I don't share your view in this case, but I 100% understand and support it. you're getting something out of Dr Who - Something you do not need to be ashamed of or apologise for btw - and this change takes that away from you, and you're bummed out. I get it and have been there myself.

Okay.

There are a ton of fandoms with plenty of cocks to stick in female orifices or rub against other cocks, go knock yourself out.

Presumably, this is OP's plan, which they mentioned in the secret.

I think if all OP wanted was cock you would have a point, but where cock is interchangeable, characters are not. OP is bummed out that the character they like is no longer suitable for them. I am not. I am very happy that a character I like is now also sexually appealing to me, but yeah, I can get OP's disappointment.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
As long as you're not acting entitled to a show that caters to your specific tastes and/or you're not harassing anyone who likes the change, I don't think anyone has the right to judge you on this, OP.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm bi so my potential for fappening has so much more breadth.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Bless you, Bi Whovian. It's one of the best parts of the bi side of life. :)

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I get you, OP. I've felt this way about some of my fandoms in the past and it's not that I begrudge people their happiness about the change or that I'm against representation/female leads. But it gets tiring to be accused of being sexist or a misogynist because you personally aren't celebrating the change.

Like you, I'm just not into the ladies and when a big reason I'm in fandom is to ship a character I'm attracted to, well, her being a her is kind of a deal breaker.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
what if he regenerate as a man you're not attracted to?

This is a good secret.

See, the thing is, you have it backwards. You think a show should support your fandom interest, when it's supposed to be that fandom supports your show interest. You've put the cart before the horse.

If what you really care about is fandom, then watch a different show. There are zillions of shows, most of them with male leads.

I have no horse in this race, as I'm not a fan (as in, don't watch it, not as in I hate it), though I peripherally think it's cool to see a female Doctor.

But I also think it's perfectly legitimate to prefer to watch series starring characters you want to fuck. As long as you're upfront about it instead of hiding behind fake reasons why it "doesn't make sense" for the Doctor to be female, you do you.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Is this...a thing people do? Only watch shows when they want to fuck the main character? For real?

Secrets like this make me really envious. I wish I had a longstanding show of female leads and then a male only coming up as a lead seasons later...

Sometimes I really fucking hate being a lesbian.

It is fine for you personally to not like it. But why should your personal sexual tastes have any bearing on the actual show? Different people like different things, and they are not required to cater to you.

I thought I wouldn't enjoy 12 because he was too old for me to be attracted to. I still wound up liking him and enjoying his seasons anyway.

As a bi woman, I'm personally a bit excited to have an Doctor of any gender a bit closer to my age, again ;)

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
I don't understand this kind of sentiment. So the hotness of the Doctor is the only attraction for the show at all? Not the plot? Not other characters? The show has no other redeeming features that make you want to watch it?

I get that you want a male doctor and I understand the reasons, no issue with that. To each his own. But giving up the show entirely because of a lack of male lead? It sounds like you just want Dr Who Porn (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxeTDAVofCY).

(Anonymous) 2017-12-13 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I can kinda understand where you're coming from. Ish. Though each Doctor being so different, surely you can't have found all of them attractive? And unless you're Mary-Sue-ing, then surely it is the chemistry of the characters in the ship that make or break things, not how attractive the Doctor is to you on a personal level.

Maybe you'll find a female Doctor/male companion ship that floats your boat?

Personally, I also dislike the fact that the new Doctor is female - mostly because I don't see why we couldn't have had a new female Time Lord join the crew and be the Doctor's match, rather than simply re-writing a male character as female. Seems lazy (I had the same issue with the Ghostbusters reboot). I mean, is writing an interesting and powerful female character really so hard that the only way to do it is to change the gender of an already well-established male one?

Sigh.

i actually get where ur comin from OP. i too would drop a series if the characters didn't appeal to me or what i want to do with them in terms of fanwork. if i needed to roll out a dissertation as to why i don't like a character just so i don't sound misogynist or whatever the fuck the internet is accusing people of these days just because they're not allowed to simply DISLIKE something, i'd keep this a secret too, damn.
