The concept of loving a celebrity in a way that has no relation whatsoever to who they are as a person, and to the extent that you'll aggressively reject any information about who they are, seems pretty fucked to me

But at the same time this seems like one of those things where rejecting the views of people who care about domestic violence is at least as important to people as Johnny Depp is so I guess there's no point me saying any of this

I, too, am capable of separating fantasy from reality; I can enjoy Josh Brolin and Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson movies, and understand that one bad facet doesn't magically negate all of a human being's existence, because people are complex and capable of both good and evil. But this is the internet, so fuck that noise. He did some shitty things! Burn all his movies! Throw shit at his mother! Harass anyone who ever said a kind word about him, especially the charities! Life is about extremes!

I the idea of Depp for this role, and I haven't liked his acting in the better part of a decade. Plus, the accusations against him, as well as his drunken, aggressive behavior in that video Amber Heard submitted, are enough to sour me on him as a person, as well.

But I'm kind of in agreement about the fact that the public is not a jury and one person making an accusation against another should not automatically equal the end of their career.

Setting aside the domestic abuse allegations, which do matter to me (those and the other violence and anger issues in his past), but if you don't care then that's up to you - what's the last thing you enjoyed him in? Because it's been quite a while for me, even before I decided I didn't want to watch him anymore. Also, I think that styling looks terrible - the hair color, the haircut, the mustache, the eye, the embroidery and cut of those trousers, that cravat, and that vest should either be unfastened or they should have posed him differently.
