Re: What is the most emotionally devastated you've been at a peice of media?

When Lane Pryce killed himself on the Mad Men episode that aired right after I'd come home from a stay at a psychiatric facility.

I don't know who she is, but I love her hair.

There are definitely many anime shows about androids and such. Unhealthy attachment stories tend to be human-looking robots though with a romantic implication. I think with this, the idea is having a robot in more of a "pet" role instead. Definitely fills a similar "unspoken loneliness" role, but seems significantly less far down the rabbit hole.

See, like, my personality is not that great. I'm okay. I like me well enough. I'm a little bland. Allmate-me would not be all that interesting and probably not super fuckable. Unless she got a hot body and had a part of my personality that didn't speak.

Re: What are some movies that your opinion has changed on after numerous viewings?

Agreed. First saw the musical when I was like 12, and it was all the rage among my high school friends. Now I'm late 20s and find the characters horrible immature brats.

I'm still not over what they did to Donna Noble and I never will be.

Did you mean to say "without" Castiel? If so, I agree with you, but I think you mis-read OP's secret. :)

If Hiddleston was cut for dating Swift, then Styles would have to be cut as well. He dated Taylor and a bunch of songs on 1989 were about him.

Everyone who commented, obviously

Sort of? The bad endings all have rape and violence since Aoba, the protagonist, destroys their minds. Most of the characters aren't "rapey" by nature, though, Aoba's powers are what cause them to go nuts. This one isn't actually even an Allmate, he's a fractured piece of Aoba's own personality that got implanted in the robot body or something, but digitally/psychologically projects as the bishie. I think in his bad ending he just eats Aoba, honestly can't remember if there was rape as well.

Well, they kind of warp it: if the rights of people they don't like are legally enshrined, then the government is interfering in their live.

E.g. if you, as a business owner, can't discriminate against gay people (or any other group that you happen to dislike), then the government is infringing upon your freedom.

It comes from a misreading of negative vs positive rights (which is itself a fraught and dicey concept). The logic is that only negative rights are valid, because they exist irrespective of government, whereas positive rights necessarily involve government intervention. And given that anti-discrimination law falls into the positive rights column, it's both invalid and contrary to the ideal of small government.

A gay person who is not allowed to marry and not allowed to patronize area businesses and not allowed to hold a job is not being treated unjustly so long as he is still technically able to own property, speak his mind, and defend his own life against attackers. That's right-wing libertarianism.

After I watched "Wolf Creek" on a movie channel. There were warnings beforehand, like they literally said, "so be warned, this is intense", and I was not prepared. That film was harrowing. It haunted me.

WTF?

I mean.

They were grown-ass adults when they met. Not even straight-out-of-high-school-yeah-they-can-legally-vote-but-are-still-teenagers adults, but actual living-on-their-own functional adults.

And how is it only pedophilia if one of them is topping and not if the other one is topping?

And I thought the Wincest "who tops" ship war was batshit!

I cried for about 3 days when Teen Wolf killed off Allison Argent.

How detailed do you get when tagging smut?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
So I follow a blog that discusses AO3 norms and trends, and some recent entries were about how people tag smut.

I guess there's an expectation out there that all of the various acts be tagged individually, just in case an act isn't someone's cup of tea. So, like, if it's a het pairing and the woman is on top at some point, you should tag for that. If there's any oral, you should tag for that. If there's doggy style, you should tag for that. If it happens outside of the bedroom, you should tag for that. etc etc etc.

I have two reactions to this: 1) this seems like overkill, and 2) what if I've upset someone with my fic? The only tags I've used are "smut," "fluff and smut," "explicit sex," "porn without plot," and "porn with feelings." I always figured those were sufficient, especially since individual acts are never the focus of my writing (I'm all about the emotional side of things), but now I'm wondering.

How do you guys go about tagging your smutty fics? What are the norms in your fandoms? Have you ever had any blowback due to not being descriptive enough with your tags?

Instant Pot?

So, I just finished doing the Water Test on my new Instant Pot.

Does anyone else have them? Any favorite recipes/sources for recipes? Tips and tricks?

I don't write smutty fic, but as a reader I appreciate when certain acts are tagged.
I'm in a fandom where rimming is super popular, and I'd love to be able to block it because mouths near asses squicks me so hard.

It also makes it easier to look for specific kinks when I'm in the mood for them.

Re: How detailed do you get when tagging smut?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're fine tagging without details, but the reason for tagging with details is because people specifically look for fics with certain scenarios. In that sense, it's in your best interest to tag because people will seek out certain kinks. But you're certainly not obligated to tag, either.

Re: How detailed do you get when tagging smut?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
If it's a smut-centric fic then I tag everything that's going on, because if I'm reading a porn one shot I like to know if there are any kinks that tickle my fancy or not. But if it's smut in a longer fic, then I don't really tag for individual sex act and tag more for plot things. But then, when I tag smut it's not so much so people avoid things but more to be like "Hey, you like this kink?? well boy howdy do I got this kink for you!"

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and the only thing I got told off for not tagging was a character death, but I'd tagged 'Heavy Angst' and then not selected an Archive Warning because the death was a spoiler

If there's something in there that's likely to be someone's kink or squick, I'll tag for that. People who don't like it can avoid it, people who are looking for it can find it, everybody wins.

I was kind of weirded out when I first discovered that Supernatural fandom was so insistent on labeling who's on the top, but I've since come to appreciate its role in minimizing my chances of coming across dewy-eyed uke!Sam.

Saving Private Ryan when the German slow-stabs Mellish while whispering "Shh-sh-sh..." I was 15 and it shook me to the core. Now anytime someone is being slowly killed on a show I squeal into a pillow until it's over. Kill Bill, Die Hard, a million bullets or blood geysers, no big, but slow stabs are the WORST. Unfortunately I like action and fantasy so there's lots of swords and it happens (or almost happens) a lot.

Why would dating TSwift stop you from being Bond? That doesn't even make sense.

If you selected "choose not to warn" and they read it anyway, that's on them.
