Fantastic Beasts should have hit all of my buttons, but turned out to be an exceedingly dull Harry Potter story with characters swapped.

The Betrayal Knows My Name. On paper, it sounded like it'd be right up my alley and I thought the art was lovely, but I read it and it just fell flat for me. I think I would've loved it had I read it a couple of years ago, but it just doesn't work for me now.

Not super-good, but I thought Godzilla 2014 would be a lot better than it was. The trailers made it look so promising, but it ended up being a 2 hour human-drama snoozefest that didn't have anywhere near enough monster-smashy to make any of that shit worth it.

Why is it that people in my law school can be rational about every issue except the Israel/Palestine issue? Our facebook page has plenty of discussions and debates on various issues. Except this one, which always devolves into insults and threats.

Yes, I get it. Jewish students. Arab students. But wouldn't people recognize that the other group of students exist and that the issue is personal for them?

But people assume the worst of everyone on the other side only on this one issue. And no one can ever just agree to disagree. They have to keep saying the same points over and over, the points clearly the other side disagrees on and will continue to do so. And then the personal attacks start. Ugh.

I would love to have a reasonable conversation on the issue. I love debating. And I do have opinions. But I don't assume the other side is evil or dumb or ignorant. I just want to have a nice debate. Why must it always devolve?

It is time for Movie Club nominations!

Theme: For our next movie the theme is pick a movie combining TWO genres. For our purposes, we will be using this list. Include what two genres you are combining with your nomination.

Rules (subject to change):
-One nomination per person.
-Must be available for rent on Amazon or iTunes, but if it streaming on Netflix or Hulu it helps!

Nominations will be open Monday-Wednesday. Voting will be on Thursday-Friday. The winner will be announced officially on Monday*. We will discuss the movie ????*.

*I will close the poll on Friday (or early Saturday) so you can check the results if you want to see the winner before Monday.
