Short rant: I'm tired of half the adult fiction for women (that isn't fantasy or historical fiction) being about someone who's dying or whose sister is dying or is in a tawdry love affair.

Like, we do have other stuff going on.

All three Thor movies were great. Ultron was actually decent minus the forced Natasha/Bruce romance. Actually, I like all the MCU movies. I think it is great, is continuing to be great, and should keep on going forever.

David Tennant is overrated as an actor. Moffatt's Who is far superior to Davies' Who.

Both Frozen and Tangled are overrated. Moana is the best recent animated movie. Also, Princess and the Frog is superior to both Frozen and Tangled.

Dungeons & Dragons sucks. As a franchise, most of D&D is bad. As individual games, 5E is a very mediocre game and 3rd Edition is an extremely poorly designed and bad roleplaying game (4E is OK if you specifically want to play a squad-based tactical combat game). The reasons for D&D's popularity and dominance are almost entirely about marketing and name recognition and corporate background and historical roots and inertia and laziness, and almost nothing to do with actual quality. And that popularity and inertia have taken specific characteristics of D&D (or in some cases, specific design mistakes of D&D) and turned them into unquestioned common-sense assumptions about all of roleplaying in general in a way that sucks.

No matter what kind of game you want to play, there's almost certainly a much better choice of game to use instead of D&D.

In conclusion, Dungeons & Dragons is bad.

Not unpopular per se, but online reviews for businesses really shouldn't be trusted. People don't realize how easy it is for two unreasonable customers to make you look bad on the internet. And that while Target can survive a few unreasonable reviews out of 1,000, your small business that only has three reviews on the internet may suffer for the two bad ones.

Lip Sync Battle is not an enjoyable show. Honestly it feels really boring in a lot of the same ways that Fallon and Corden do - just endless starfucking without any actual content or interesting creative choices underlying it.

I don't really like Labyrinth. Possibly because I take David Bowie too seriously? Also possibly because I never saw it as a kid because I was in high school when it came out.

If it weren't for the music I might have been more into it.

Bioware has been overrated for a while, and most of their best work was licensed from WotC or LucasFilm.

Also, Blizzard "lore" is a hot mess that shouldn't ever be taken seriously.

Also, as much as I hate that the slow death of Barnes & Noble takes away an Amazon alternative, I can't cry too hard over stores that stocked less than half of the Hugo/Nebula shortlist but had every Warhammer published volume.

Not much, I was off work today so I kinda just bummed around. I went for my run this morning, and I did 45 minutes rather than the usual 35, afterwards I went to Starbucks and got an iced latte. I read some good fic this afternoon and then I went to Whole Foods and got gyoza and nigiri sushi (my Whole Foods has surprisingly good sushi). Right now I'm having a glass of wine and watching basketball while scrolling the 'nets.

Some filing, some writing. Talked to my AmeriCorps super about stuff I did in Virginia and about how we'd both been sick as hell. Chit-chatted with our resident Lt and drag queen. Priced reel lawn mowers.

In celebration of Avengers 3 and a culmination of ten years + 19 movies, let's discuss it. I'll add some subthreads, but feel free to add your own.

And yes, I know there is going to be that one person with the edgy opinion of how awful the movies are.

Main character recast?

So, apparently Lethal Weapon, which is a show on Fox based on the movies and in it's second season, is having issues with renewal because of the bad behavior of one of its leads (Clayne Crawford, who plays Martin Riggs). The show is doing well in the ratings, so there is a possibility they will recast. The show is good, so I hope it goes on, but I have no idea what that will do to chemistry. But if they can get someone good, maybe they should. I would like to see what someone like Joshua Jackson or Josh Stewart could do with it, if it came down to that.

Once upon a time, Darrin Stevens on Bewitched was recast, but they usually don't do it with main characters (except for recasts after pilots), just bring in a new main character.

Are there shows out there you think could do with a mid-series recast of one of the main characters? Which actor and who would you put in their place?
