Did that happen IC or in real-life? Either way, I can see how that would make you feel a little violated and mistrusting of anyone wanting to RP with you now. If you can't get to a point where you feel safe, then wait and try again later. It helps if you set definite boundaries and ground rules and make sure your RP partner knows how far to go and what your squick is.

Your reference to MESPT really brought me back to the old-school. FRODO AND FATSES. LiveJournal in 2002... invite codes and all that. I wish I had saved some of those old RP journal threads because they were truly epic.

152. I rather liked the "gender does matter" point that episode made, because it does. Women are different than men. They always have been, and they always will be. I don't like how everyone has to pussyfoot around this idea of perfect equality because it's just never going to happen. Not to say that women don't deserve equal rights, but if we want a sort of "perfect world" where women and men are treated equally, then women wouldn't be allowed maternity leave, or men would.

Or like where I live, where men and women can split the fourteen months of parental leave there is (and one extra month is specifically reserved for the father), and where we're discussing making a law that makes the parents share equally?

Also, I've read in the paper on two different occasions of women that have actually beaten a rapist down, and getting away. It has nothing to do with what we can do, but more with us being raised to be afraid of everything, and told we can't do anything.

I have myself bodily thrown a guy out from a party, and he was at least three decimeters (about a foot I think) taller than me. When you're angry enough youi get stronger, and while it's certainly risky to go at someone much bigger than you, the same thing goes for men.

Statistically, it's (young) men who are most often victims of violence. But do they go around feeling like victims all the time?

101 - I LOVE JACKIE CHAN SO MUCH IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. HE IS ONE BADASS MO-FO.

107 - I liked Iron Man a whole lot more than The Dark Knight, mostly because TDK was just so dark that it made me want to cut my wrists and weep in a corner and lose faith in humanity. However, with IM, I spent most of the time oohing and aahing at the special effects and fantasizing about banging RDJ.

117 - I guess the difference is that people mostly just want to fap to the pictures, not discuss the show.

157 - My favorite actor ever died before I even knew who he was, so I feel your pain. (Cary Grant, BTW)

168 - I personally though that book was too creepy/dark for many people to really get into it. Twilight sucked a whole lot more than Tithe, yes, but it was more accessible to the general public (IMO).

I'm not sure how twilight exactly stole the Tithe's thunder, personally; that book/series could probably never be mainstream popular considering the controversial issues that holly black includes. I'm not saying it's not a great book - I loved that book, as well as Valiant & Ironside. I can understand your point, though, that it is disturbing that such a shit book is so amazingly popular. I think it's mostly due to smeyer's eye-catching covers and VERY easy reading that is easy for teenage bubbleheads to skim. You should read those books, just to laugh incredulously every page. The latest one was the most lol-inducing.
