The point of the pirate comic was that the protagonist was trying to protect his town from terrible bloodthirsty murderers, and in so doing he ended up becoming the terrible bloodthirsty murderer attacking the town. The point was that a person can have noble intentions and make a series of decisions that each seem right and justifiable, and still end up doing something incredibly evil. It's basically a thematic reflection of the entire plot of Watchmen, particularly as regards to you-know-who.

Fire Lady Toph is something I agree would be awesome, but I always pictured it happening when Iroh kicked Ozai's ass, reclaimed his throne, and adopted Toph . . . so really she'd be Fire Lord Toph, but I do think if she was just the Fire Lady she'd get bored of being a dictator's assistant and eventually stage a coup just for the lulz.

Zuko gets to be the next Earth King in this scenario.
