I got the car I wanted! We bought it today. It is mine. I also had three court hearings today and wrote several motions. Now I'm in a conference. Long-ass day, but good.

How is everyone else's day going?

I got to take my dolls to work today and the kids had a blast during my lesson, so that was fun.

mixed bag. I did some shopping and went out w/ my roomie and hung out at my favorite cafe but the pool at my apt bldg is indefinitely closed which I'm really pissed about. I wanna go swimming!

mine is same shit different day. I've got less than two weeks to finish 4 costumes for Dragoncon and can only work on them after work/dinner and weekends. It'll be close but I'm feeling the stress.

Yay for car!!

I'm having a fun week of half-days because I've accrued over 200 hours of personal time and some of that shit needs used up before I top off and start essentially giving my workplace money.

Congrats on the car and the good day! I puttered around in the garden this morning but since then I’ve been a weepy lump on the couch, which I think is just pms being an asshole. Hopefully my brain will stop getting hijacked by my hormones fairly soon.

I bought a house! Still freaking out a little.

Now I have to furiously clean my apartment by Sunday morning because my landlady wants to be able to start showing it then. I'm going to have to start hauling crap over to the house to get it out of the way. Fortunately, it's just across the neighborhood, but my car is tiny. Then I will have to clean!

I have bronchitis and ended up sleeping for over 16 hours. I still feel like shit on toast, so I'm gonna try to get in to see the doctor some time this afternoon.

Like race, gender, age, and so forth. Are you more okay with one kind of change than another? What do you think is often done wrong with these kind of things? What's an example you like?

I'm fine with it for members of minorities who don't get to experience characters like themself often. I side-eye it for straight white men because there are a zillion straight white male characters.

In general, it's fine. I guess you should be careful about changing POC to non-POC in contexts where POC is a relevant conceptual category, but as a general rule, I like it and I think it's good. I think it's an interesting interpretation or re-imagining that you can do really cool things with. It's good. It's generally more interesting the more thoroughly you go into the underlying logic of the character, but yeah, it's cool, I like it.

I don’t really care when it’s fans doing it unless it’s changing a minority character to the default—disabled to not, POC to white, and so on, and even then I just roll my eyes and move on. It’s when professional creators do the same that I get kind of mad.
