101. In 8th grade, we did Cinderella for our class play(The dialogue from the Disney version with some Rodgers and Hammerstein songs thrown in)... and the sisters were played by guys.

Maybe our music teacher had the same theory as you?

The pantomime version of Cinderella is always perfromed with either one or both of the sisters (or the stepmother) as a 'dame', a male in the female role. The version I was in had both sisters played by men. It's actually theatre tradition.

Awww, I love Tracie Thoms' Joanne. Yes, she's not nearly as awesomely hardcore as the original, but she's the least of the movie's problems. Least of the movie's casting problems, actually.
