where 99.9% straight character 1 going for same gender character 2 doesn't make them Suddenly Gay Now and they have to actually deal with the social consequences of

A) still being 99.9% straight and seeing nothing in any other same-gender people,
B) still having a straight identity,
C) being in an openly and obviously gay relationship which they aren't ashamed of,
D) everyone else trying to claim them as gay or bi when they don't id that way, not due to homophobia but literally not being attracted to any other same-gender people

"i like one same gender person who Turned Me Gay and now i'm part of the queer community now and feel no more attraction toward opposite gender yay no problems" is a really annoying trope

Femslash where the characters are messy, complicated, mean, flawed, etc etc. I know it exists but there is still too much “pure wuv” femslash out there imo.

Honestly, anything so long as it's well written. I prefer the slow burn myself, but what I'd really like is seeing two people who actually LIKE one another before they fall in lust. I don't want any "their eyes met across the room and that was it" kind of love because the author usually gets very lazy and uses that as a shortcut to building chemistry. I want to see an intellectual and emotional connection between the couple before they realize they're in love/before they have sex.

I was in Business Careers class. I remember we watched the news and another class came into to watch because they did not have a TV. We watched it all day moving from class to class.

At work, listening to the radio. (There were no smart phones or internet video then, of course.) The hits not stopping, feeling like we must be at war.

I raced home on my lunch break to watch CNN, and I think I spent the next month doing nothing but that when I was at home.

I'll never forget driving in my car that day and looking at other drivers' faces as they passed, and everyone's faces being exactly the same. Blank, expressionless shock.

In Chemistry class, first year of college. My professor said it was very good of us to come considering what happened, but since it was 7:30 and all of us had rolled out of bed just in time to walk to class we were very very confused. And then I got back to my dorm to find a bunch of people sobbing around the tv in the lounge.
