101: That movie was all kinds of wrong to me. Actually, it was really just Gerard and Emmy that bothered me. Neither one of them were up to the job vocally(A 16 year old opera singer? Yea ok). While Gerry could at least act, I don't think he suited the part. The Phantom's supposed to be kind of ugly, after all. Really, neither one of them were similer to the way the characters were written in the book, so I don't know where you got that from.

HOLY FUCK! That's an epic secret, and I kind-of sort-of agree.

(My deep dark XF secret? I kind of shipped CSM/Scully O_O BUT ONLY IN "EN AMI"!)

Re: 130

[identity profile] dashakay.livejournal.com 2008-08-16 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree. They were a mad, bad, dangerous to know couple and I dig it highly.

CSM/Scully? Mmm, not so much, but I can see why you might.

122. While a tad WTF, any Bobby secret is a good secret. I'd hit that at any size. UNF UNF UNF. UNF.

148. I love Brisco so much and think it's cancellation was a bigger tragedy then Firefly.

170. I'm a die-hard old school comic fan and would love to see him play the part because honestly in the Ledger/Bale verse they could do MUCH MUCH WORSE. Like I adore Cillian Murphy but as Jonathan Crane? Really? The should have gotten Julian Richings. So I know it will never happen, but for now the thought of David in the role doesn't give me hives and that's good enough for me.

PS: In no way, shape or form is it worse then Johnny.

Re: 170

[identity profile] cdaae.livejournal.com 2008-08-16 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It really seems as if the main reason some people don't want Tennant in the role is because they don't want to deal with the influx of Tennant fangirls into their fandom. Plus when people are used to seeing someone in one role, they often have a hard time imagining them being capable of anything else.

Or am I missing something?

That's a hell of a secret. I'm sorry for you-- I know you know you're missing out on a lot of wonderful books by a lot of female writers.

Good luck to you in getting over your issue.

Re: 126

[identity profile] chatastic.livejournal.com 2008-08-16 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And books with female narrators? Holy shit-storm. That leaves you out of a lot! Must be quite the burden. I suppose I'm glad I haven't faced it.

I only get turned off by crap!prose written by male, female, in-between or otherwise. And I wouldn't put "Tale of the Body Thief" in the mix with that Twilight biz. But you're the one with the women issue... though Tale is narrated by a male character...

Aw, I think I've been had! Ah well, jolly good fun!

108. I admit to getting a bit misty-eyed. It may be a comedy, but that pairing is too beautiful to not be taken seriously.

131. Solution: get a stiff drink (if you're of age) and read it for the lulz.

134. Didn't everyone spend most of middle school feeling irritated?

178. To be fair, it was a rather creepy webcomic about stick figures.

And the Joker secrets continue to get weirder. Yay!

Holy crap, that is the cutest thing ever. I haven't been on a bike in about ten years (I'm 25 too) and I've been trying to work up the courage to go ride mopeds with my boyfriend. And I've been kind of freaked out by the idea, but after reading your secret? I'm not nearly as scared about trying it. Who knows...maybe my own little Patronus will show up to help me out.

Thanks, OP! <3

166) I ship Maul with Marluxia after the whole crank-calling thing. "I AM NOT A GAY PROSTITUTE!"

181) But the fanfic of them doesn't make sense. I'd read it (maybe even ship it) if it did, but it doesn't. >_>;

115: It shouldn't really be a secret that you think others should care more about the person than about a movie character. People who say they're glad he died are fucking deranged.

126: That's kind of bad. Maybe you should read more classic things written by women? Like "The Bell Jar"?

138: If you don't like female characters as a rule, that could easily be due to sexism on your part. You might have completely unrealistic expectations for them, not at all applied to men. I've seen people find really, really petty reasons to hate female characters, and not all of it can be blamed on people not writing "good enough" characters.

174: Huh?

178: It was supposed to be that creepy! That's where the humor came from. Don't worry.

TL;DR edition

[identity profile] jaclynhyde.livejournal.com 2008-08-16 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
101. I'm only a mild fan of the musical, but I have to disagree with you on Butler having a "wonderfully powerful voice"--I thought his voice was far too rock-styled for a part requiring such a classically trained voice. The problem with his looks lies in the makeup department, because for god's sake, the Phantom should have deformities worse than a bad sunburn! (I agree about Rossum, though.)
104. FRY <3
131. Well. If you read it and don't like it, you can participate in all the mockery...
138. Try replacing "female" with, say, "black". See the problem? Yeah, there are feminists that go overboard with accusations, such as "You don't like this character? That means you're a misogynist!", but if you don't like any female characters, there's certainly a possibility of latent misogyny.
140. XDDD
152. There's also disliking action games and/or stealth games (not that that stopped me from bumbling my way through the series). But three cheers for strangely sexy old guys with facial hair!
169. NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOO
170. Dude, Claude was friggin' awesome. He threw Peter off a roof!
171. Wow. I've never found him that sexy, but...wow.
172. Awwwww. (Still can't ride a bike at 23...)
186. Not a huge fan of either character, but that would be kinda hot.
