180) The only reason why I would watch the new seasons (I stand by the original 151, mew included) is to see more of those three. But ever since their voices changed, I can't do it any more without bursting into tears. Sure, their hair colours are kind of trippy now, but I wouldn't mind if they still had their voices. 152. Or maybe we just can't play those types of games. I've tried at a friend's house, because I've read enough about MGS that I really want to play it. But I don't have the gaming skills or hand-eye coordination. So I stick to RPGs where every attack comes from picking an option in a menu.

101. SIGNED! Okay, I complain about the movie too, but the absolute truth of it is, I only have two problems:
A) "Music of the Night"--I'm not saying Crawford is the end-all be-all, I just think Butler's voice was cracking and shifting in all the wrong places, and it just sounded horrible.
B) His "horrible scarring" has been reduced to a bad rash around one eye. I accept that the man has a nose. Hey, he's sexy, I don't mind it. But the reason the Phantom in the musical only had so much disfigurement was that he couldn't sing around prosthetics. That point is moot in a filmed version. Not that they shouldn't keep him sexy--let's face it, musical!Phantom is sexy in theory, but if we're going to have it as a movie, we need to have someone people (and fangirls) can stomache looking at for two hours.
Other than that, I think it was beautiful, and I liked Butler's performance. Not as much as I like Crawford's (vocally, anyway), because Crawford had this beautiful, brittle madness to him that I loved. No one does psychotic laughter like Crawford.

Seriously. It freaked me the hell out when I first noticed it a few weeks ago, but I didn't really want to say because I thought it would sound lame. But it's so creepy, like those photos of the dead they had in The Others. It's almost...premonition-like.
I think I only noticed it after seeing the movie because prior to that, I didn't realise how lively the Joker was, and how, really, this picture has almost nothing to do with the character at all. But the other way around...

Frick. I feel like it was foreshadowing, now. Like we all should've been Genre Savvy enough to see it coming.

Agreed. Though I do think one can reasonably argue that female characters often suck because of, well, all the reasons why females are written poorly (misogyny, stereotyping, feminist backlash, etc. etc.), if you hate them all, you've got a problem.

I have to agree on this. But I also have to extend this to the fanboys and, yeah, some fangirls, who want Angelina Jolie as Catwoman. Remember, the girls are not the only ones making horrible casting decisions there.

A fan of the comics wants the best actor for the job not the best looking one. Why? Because he/she cares about the story and the characters. So, no Depp or Tennant for the Riddler.

Personally, I would prefer an older actor. Someone seasoned and more subtle to combat the firework display that was the Joker. Again, who? I have no idea. Who fits that description?
