I'm disappointed that this is in fandom, which has always struck me as more or less open. :/ But then, I think now that I was a bit homophobic before I started reading slash, and definitely not accepting of myself, and that fandom helped me to change my views about myself and others, so maybe eventually, the OP will learn to accept us for what we are. Mind you, it took "Sex and the City" to make me realize that many women in fandom actually meant it when they said something was hot, so maybe it will never become real to the OP.

Though I didn't really relate to that particular character (I liked him, but I don't think I'm at all similar to him), I can understand where you're coming from. I generally tolerate people when they're not pestering me to talk to them, but in the times when I've actually tried to socialize, do what society expects from me, and generally act "normal," I get really, really irrationally angry. And depressed and pent-up and icky-feeling. So I don't do that anymore. I'm a loner and an eccentric, and I'll live as such. I'll just focus on sustaining myself and won't bother with all that extra stuff that you "need" to do to be "successful." All I need to do is work, write, have fun, and live my life. I don't need to jump through hoops for a pat on the head, though I used to think I did. Sure, I probably seem curmudgeonly (not to mention weirdly withdrawn), but as long as I'm supporting myself, it's no one's goddamn problem, and there's nothing wrong with me.

tl;dr, I hope you find a way to "live off the grid," so to speak, and that you feel better when you do. Some people just don't like being in the midst of society, and as long as they don't hurt anyone, that's up to them and just fine.

Wow. This may sound a little weird, but I seriously feel like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders just reading your comment. I felt like you could have been describing me. I've never been sociable, and I've felt abnormal for almost as long as I can remember, and it's led to years of depression and anxiety. And I've always just listened to the people who told me that I have to change myself, I have to conform to what society expects of me, I have just keep socializing until I "get it." Not once had it ever really occurred to me that I could "live off the grid," as you say.

I think everyone's pretty much said all there is to say about this, but I just wanted to add my two cents and encourage you to try to open your mind a little bit more. To you, the experience may be amazing and worth having, but to someone with no sex drive who is constantly being peer pressured into feeling like they have to want sex because everybody else does, even if they try it will most likely end up being unpleasant and unfulfilling.

I'll phrase this another way: I have no interest in sports. Should I force myself to play sports anyway, just because to other people it's a fulfilling experience? Please try to realize that asexuals aren't DENYING themselves anything. They don't sit around and crave sex and purposefully not let themselves have it - that's celibacy and it's a completely different thing. Asexuals just don't care.

Tintin is still one of my favourite french comics, I loved it when I was young, Tintin was one of my first fictional crush so I'm glad they're making a movie that I'm hoping will be much better than the awful tv adaptations. However, I've lost of internet innocence the day I saw the rule 34 applied to Tintin and Milou (the dog, don't remember his english name)and I'm a bit afraid of what fandom might do. But at least, if it's a film with actors, it won't hurt too much the comics.
