My sympathies, OP. I tend to wind up either not shipping at all or shipping bizarre crossover pairings, meaning the only one who's going to be writing those stories are me.

(There's also those instances where I ship a character with me, but that's a whole different can of worms...)

Being a straight man doesn't automatically mean you're closed off from your emotions. And being a gay man doesn't automatically mean you're more emotionally open.

I would also add that female-dominated spaces are some of the most toxic and hateful environments I've ever been in. Fandom, for example.
