4chan isn't supposed to be laughing *at* horrific things, but laughing at the way people view them. Like An hero, for instance. Boy shoots himself in the head, terrible, right? Turns out boy shot himself in the head over losing his iPod. It's absolutely pathetic, even more so because people started saying how brave he was for doing it. So Anon laughs because someone who killed themselves for a very stupid reason is being praised as a hero.

4chan humour is about not having the knee-jerk reactions of society. Not automatically going "zomg, how awful! :( :( :(", but looking at the reasons behind it, and if it's stupid, laughing at it.

Besides, do you laugh at real-life rape or domestic abuse? I'm guessing not. You probably treat that seriously, as you should. So don't worry too much- Phoenix Wright is fictional after all ;)
