I see what you're saying but at the same time I disagree. Those are elements of their personalities, but not their entire personalities. I don't think they would be friends if it was that simple.

Hermione has a lot of empathy. She understands why Harry is frustrated a lot of the time. She's pushy when she has something she feels passionately about, like S.P.E.W. in the books, but she also supports Harry when he feels strongly about something.

Harry really respects Hermione. He goes to her for advice a lot. He asks for her help when he needs to learn something or find anything. Even when he's annoyed with Hermione, he knows she's usually getting involved because she cares.

I don't even ship it, but I think saying they could never have a healthy relationship is a bit of a stretch.

I think saying they could never have a healthy relationship is a bit of a stretch.

The secret doesn't say that.

nayrt - but +1 for reading comprehension. It's mind boggling sometimes how often people respond to a secret by arguing against a point that nobody actually made.

AYRT

Not in those words, but that's how I interpreted it. I didn't say that clearly I guess. I don't think interpreting it differently would be wrong either.

I used to be really into them. I've gotten to the point where I can only do the Trio all together, though. None of the pairs really work on their own, but at the same time I can't see any of them working with anyone else. So it has to be all three of them. I'll read anything at this point. But I only ship the three together.

Recs, pretty please?

Butting in.

I always liked Bed and Board by Resonant https://archiveofourown.org/series/2268

It was written in 2004 (before the last two books), so this story's post-war world is different.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I always kinda liked that paring. I never really got why Hermione is so fixed with a single personalty trait. Sure she's controlling, but most of that is generally focused around her attempt to understand the magical world, imo. Her and Harry share a sorta understanding by both being forced into a world neither of them new existed, even if they deal with it in different ways. Their relationship just seems more healthy than either of their alternatives.
While she is very headstrong and controlling, I've always thought she was less so with Harry. (but then again, I could be completely misremembering;;)
Plus the dancing scene was really cute.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think one of her more egregious attempts to control Harry was getting his new Firebolt taken away in book 3. I understand she had his best interests at heart, and of course McGonagall would have found out about it anyway, but I also understand why Harry considered it a betrayal.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, but I guess because she meant well, wasn't necessarily wrong that it was Sirius who sent it, and went to McGonagall about it. I saw it as more doing the 'responsible' thing (in her mind, and as a 'by the book' standard), than any real means of control... Even if Harry's did have the right to feel betrayed by it.
(also, it seems that anytime people talk about her being controlling it always had to be a bad thing, so I didn't think about this)

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
She was completely justified and frankly, it's realistic that Harry would consider it a betrayal but I don't think there's any way to say that he was right about it.

I'm 34 and I still have an instinctive "as if she told about the broomstick!" adolescent reaction to remembering ( been a long time since I read the books) that scene. Like as an adult i do think it's the right thing but my gut reaction is about the same as Harry has to it.

As kinky subjectivity goes, I could go for Hermione in either d/s role but it's hard for me to picture Harry as a dom.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I can see him being willing to try it, but either freaking out or getting an uncontrollable case of the giggles and just pissing his partner off.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I can see Hermione liking to get tied up flogged once in a while because it lets her relax and get out of her head and not have to be in control.

I don't think Ron would be particularly into it, but I think he'd be willing to do it because it's something she likes, and with a little practice (and an opportunity to get over his initial freak-out at the possibility of accidentally pushing her too far) I think he'd be a good service top.

I don't think Harry could get through it without having a giggle fit.

Isn't this a repeat but with a different picture? Not that I'm complaining because... yeah, that PICTURE... I'd read that too, OP!

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP, but it's a verbatim comment I made in a previous thread. I'm really into the pic, too. :D

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, it's a comment secret.

I still wouldn't say I ship it but I do think it's hot

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
christ it's creepy as hell when people photoshop real actresses' faces into pornography

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
ia

and ofc no one here is talking about how creepy that pic is... ofc...

(Anonymous) 2019-02-14 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree. Although mainly, my problem with it is when people try (and sometimes succeed) in passing photoshopped images off as real. Like, "Look, explicit nudes of so-and-so!" Unfortunately, unless you put text right on the manip, in a place where it can't be cropped out, that says "This is a manip, it's not real," there are bound to be people out there who go, "Durr, I didn't think so-and-so did nudes but I guess she did. Wow her tits are bigger than I thought, durr."

(Anonymous) 2019-02-15 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. This is incredibly creepy.
