I concur! The fact is, if you made the effort to read the book, especially before the movie came out, you're part of the fandom. I haven't met a single comic book fan who is not excited by how much Watchmen's been selling recently, even if they're not excited for the movie.

110. Aang is selfless and a dark and unhappy ending would have been completely untrue to the series. In fact, it was a pretty fucking ballsy move for them to make the main character adhere to his pacifistic ideals instead of killing the baddie. And like what happened to Azula wasn't plenty dark? Are you sure the person in question isn't just bitter over shipping? Sounds like an angry Zutarian whose view of the show was so removed from what the creators actually put forth.

142. Stop being silly and just indulge. If you're that worried, just make it known that you realize that the movie is a different beast and yes, you have read the comic. People are going to be exasperated, that's inevitable, but most of their frustration isn't directed at you personally. I say that as a crotchety old fan in a different fandom.

1. Practicality. Differentiating from slash and femmeslash helps you to know specifically what a person means when you say you ship "X." Since slash is more common than femmeslash, saying femmeslash allows people to specify and not have to explain "I ship slash, but usually with girls."

2. This is one of those weird LJ things I don't quite get, but I can see the practicality in this too. They want to combine it into one name because they are planning to discuss not Bob, but Sad!Bob and will use that repeately.

3. That's kind of stupid. I'll tell you right now that I certainly didn't advertise Final Fantasy VII, and what happened to that fandom was entirely Not My Fault. I'm pretty sure they didn't consult Watchmen fans before deciding to go ahead and make a movie, either.

4. Many people have said this already.

5. Are you sure it isn't just that so many kinks and fetishes have been normalized in fandom and are now held above reproach (with special exceptions made for furries)?

6. Yaoi isn't just gay and shota isn't just pedophilia. Both have archetypes associated with them. Shota in particular is used more as a catch-all for little boy characters and so doesn't actually mean "pedophilia" at all. Besides, people mostly do this in gest.

7. But by saying that they don't get out you confirm that they are, indeed, weird.

EXTREMELY popular, like 80% of the fanfiction at the least. Magnificent bastards do well in fandom, especially when they act very ambiguously around the cute main character. I don't ship any other Josh or Neku pairings, but I always feel REALLY bad for those people who don't like/are sick of it, to the point where I'm planning my wip AU to just have a lot of subtext instead of outright sex/romancing.
