Oh man. I don't know what that's from, but same here, pretty much. Aside from not wanting to dedicate my one life to raising children, I think giving birth to some kind of genetic fuckup like that would pretty much shatter my mind. Even looking at pictures of that kind of thing squicks me on some kind of primordial level. I mean, the fact that a human being can be born looking only vaguely human... It kind of makes me feel like I can't trust nature, and gives me this weird vague idea that, just below the surface, the world is a deeply horrifying place. So the thought of looking at something like that, knowing that it not only came out of my fucking body, but also has my DNA... I don't think my sanity could survive that, frankly.

tl;dr, Nightmare Fuel Unleaded.

101. THIS.

110. I think your ideals are awesome. I also think that people who wanted a DARK AND EDGY ending should stuff it.

123. WHERE did the blank of that secret come from?

130. Repeat? From a long time ago?

133. You want a Queer Studies/Lit of Your Choice double major and grad school in an Lit program that's friendly to queer interpretation.

173. Tony Stark/Xanatos? I've never considered that pairing before, but it's a fantastic idea!

124. Lovely sentiment, it truly is, I adore the actress myself and think she's doing a wonderful job. But um, the show is set and filmed in Canada, and it was originally created for a Canadian network. It is not American in any way, shape, or form.

(Anonymous) 2008-09-08 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
...oh. See, I didn't know that. Kind of explains why it's set in Toronto, then.

110. Ugh, I know the feeling. I know someone who feels that exact same way. I respect her a lot, her opinions are generally valued even when I disagree with them, but goddamn, every single time she opens her mouth about Aang I have an urge to defriend her.

126 - What show is this?

129 - IAWTS. Alas, it is only wishful thinking.

134 - Tell us the name of your alleged boyfriend. Also, hm. Make out on stage with him. The world neds more openly gay musiscians.

171 - 1. To make it easier to find stuff?
2. Tags don't work that way? Also, for readability.
7. So you stayed inside and thought of all this stuff you wanted to tell us and especially to tell us to get out more? Hipocrisy, thy name is OP of 171.

126. It's Hollyoaks, British soap opera that causes obsession in me in fans. The pairing is John Paul/Craig, for whom there is a vast following. If you want picspam or links to the YouTube clips or anything, let me know, for I am, as I said, obsessed.

BOOK!DEXTER FUCK YEAH.

All the Dexter fandom I have found is for the show and that makes me sad inside.

[identity profile] metalsyko.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
101. I love that book. Some of the things and plays on words blew my mind in like 90 different directions as a kid, but it's so badass.

114. I'd be in his bunk, alright. (God, I'm so witty.)

173. ...oh god I'll never be able to unsee it. OH GOD.

[identity profile] chiyo-no-hikari.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
110. Did...did she watch a different series than you and I and everyone else? Isn't one of the major points of the show that Aang never wanted to be Avatar but owned up to his responsibility? Oh well. I agree w/you 100% anyways.

130. The way I see it, listening to an audiobook is an entirely different experience from sitting down and reading a book, and they each have their own strengths. Either way, though, you're still experiencing literature. I, for one, say more power to you.

[identity profile] boosette.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently a large portion of fandom thinks that Aang got a Deus Ex World Turtle and didn't have to do any growing up at all - that he didn't "lose" anything, and that he didn't act maturely or responsibly because he didn't kill Ozai.

Which strikes me as - as the OP said - bitter, cynical and petulant in a really juvenile way.

114. Jayne is made of sexy.

116. I think that at one point, someone involved with Firefly/Serenity said they'd like to do a sequel, and the fans blew it all out of proportion. Considering that they made like no money on the Big Damn Movie, I doubt there'll be another one. I think there's some comics, though.

134. What should you do? Step away from the married man, dude. No matter what your sexual orientation, dating someone who's got a spouse is a bad idea.

#143

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
143. You have to be more specific. Their fandom is like 80% of music lovers.

114. Ah, therein lies the rub, OP. Hot Sex Partners and Great Relationship Material : it's like a Venn Diagram with very little overlap

128. You know the episode where they're in sensory deprivation chambers and temporarily swap bodies and reach a new understanding of each other? That was really sweet. :)

131. AHAAHAHAHA.

134. Stop fucking married men. Problem solved!

146. Stan Lee and.....oh, I failed. :(

162. I don't know the manga, but "Vongola Famiglia" means "Clam Family" in Italian. Weird.

111) Those two can stay adorable in Alaska. I can't look at her without thinking of how much of a disaster it would be if she actually got into office.

123) The easiest way to avoid feedback (and the inevitable wank that comes when your readers realize that you don't care about them) is to not bother putting it up to the for the public to read. I've got fics that have never left my computer.

134) I find you somewhat less than credible.

152) It's time to seek professional help. You've let your negative feedback loop spiral out of control, it's time to break it.

165) I can give you way better reasons than some cheesy monster make up.

171) The obvious answer is, the people who like femmeslash aren't the same as those who like slash. Another reasons is that meta about Femmeslash is a hell of a lot rarer than slash, and without a separate word for it, it would get lost. The upshot is, even though they are both homosexual, that's pretty much the only thing the two share. Female on female dynamic is not the same as male on male, because women aren't the same as men. Rest is tl;dr... got bored moved on.

172) I've long been a convert to tying up men. They look so pretty when they struggle.
