IDK what this is but I'm slightly interested, can anyone spoil who they are / what happens

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
IDK I feel like I can imagine it in the abstract, and maybe some people even do deserve it, but when you actually think about the details and the reality and what the lived experience of doing something like that would be like... I just have no desire at all to actually do it. It makes me sad.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"whom I felt deserved it"

I'm sure plenty of people share this feeling, but this is the genuinely unsettling part of this secret to me.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Your problem sounds less like you're a serial killer, and more like you're surrounded by either extremely sensitive souls or holier-than-thou pearl clutching hypocrites to me. I think most normal people would want to hurt, idk, someone who tortures puppies for fun. I'm not gonna go do it, most people wouldn't really go do it, but I'd be more weirded out by someone who didn't at least want to or didn't think they deserved a punch in the face, than someone who did.

We all also manage to control those feelings and not do all the things we want to do, for obvious reasons. That's perfectly normal.

I'd guess the reason people think you're trying to be edgy isn't because nobody else ever wants to hurt people, it's this: "Hee hee you could pass by me on the street and ~never notice~ average old unassuming me, the ~potential sociopath~, which just how I LIKE it! *rubs hands together villainously, twirls mustache*" It really sounds like you'd enjoy being ~different. I don't think you are, though.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
How, exactly?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)

I think there's somewhat of a distinction to be made between wanting to hurt someone, and wanting them to *suffer*. Not sure which side OP falls onto, but, yeah.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Lots of people do want others to suffer though, depending on what they've done. I don't find it weird and sociopathic for someone to want, for example, a child abuser to suffer.

I'd absolutely find it weird if they made it their mission to go and make it happen personally.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this. A child abuser has caused other people to suffer so it's not that odd to feel like they should experience suffering in return. What would be weird would be, like you said, actually going out and doing it.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone has thoughts like that. Where you go, I could kill this person who wronged me. Or even thinking about HOW you would kill them. The main thing is not doing it.

it's a cbs show so probably nothing.

It wasn't the most exciting line up when I saw it initially. But I try to remember there have been times when the actual stand up comedians have been shit at a particular task (even after you thought they'd be amazing at it) and also some of the contestants I didn't expect much from have surprised me.

I also haven't necessarily been familiar with someone's work and ended up really enjoying them regardless.

So basically I'm going to be cautiously optimistic that this line up might surprise us. They all do still have comedy backgrounds anyway.

oh, op. I feel this way about the show. I'm not involved in the fandom so excepting that part, I relate to this more than I can say.

Hey, awesome froods!
I just culled all the socks, shirts, & blouses for things that don't fit / I no longer like and I'll be throwing away/donating a TON of stuff tomorrow morning. Yay! :D But I still have the pants and skirts, and the dresses to go... not to to mention the sweaters... D:

So, here's my favourite goofy music to do cleaning tasks to:

Probably not. Even with objectively evil dictators or whatever, I don't have the geopolitical knowledge to know if killing them would result in even greater political instability.

Re: Would you murder someone if you could get away with it?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-24 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
no. I think the guilt and the memory of it would be too much to live with. even if I got away with it, legally, or whatever, stayed out of jail, didn't get caught, I still wouldn't get away with it because my own head would punish me forever.

I'm three episodes in and totally agree with this! But I'd expect nothing less :)
