In honor of secret 3.

What fandoms do you think are the best/sexiest to insert into A/B/O? What pairings, and what roles do you put them in?

TBH, the main parts of ABO that I like are heat/mating cycles, and dom/sub dynamics. And I don't really have any ships where I have a very strong preference for dom and sub, so. Sorry!

I only like a/b/o if it's m/m slash pairings. I kind of prefer original fiction, tbh, so you don't have to be on the lookout for serious personality changes in certain characters.

The only A/B/O I can stand is female Alpha, male Omega.

Not a specific fandom but I prefer when the fics lean heavily into the Alpha's mental state and emotions instead of the others.

It's much more rarely done, but it's way more interesting to me to see 'Alpha' characters trying to deal with uncontrollable hypersexuality and the inability to ignore perceived threats or challenges and dominance and control freak-ish compulsions and other typically Alpha things that are rarely portrayed as the negatives and handicaps they are or would be in reality. Especially when it's an egalitarian universe where actions still have consequences and they're stuck dealing with literal biologially-mandated anger and aggression issues. Like taking every aspect of toxic masculinity, making it biological, then having characters struggle with and against it.

None. Absolutely none. If you absolutely have to, at least do it in fandoms that already have werewolves, like Teen Wolf.

I only like a/b/o in slash fandoms. My main fandom for fic reading is Sherlock, and I think a/b/o works well for that fandom - plus there's just a LOT of a/b/o in the Sherlock fandom, so there's more variety.

I tend to favor Omega!Sherlock and Alpha!John, because Sherlock is harsh and brilliant and independent, so he has a lot of very strong traits that play directly against Omega stereotyping, and I like that. Plus, the kind of Alpha characterization I like is a gentle, respectful Alpha who is not threatened by being bossed around by an Omega - which is a role John fits into much more easily than Sherlock.

However, I have read some great Omega!John and Alpha!Sherlock fics. But this only works for me if Omega!John is a BAMF and Alpha!Sherlock is not a Dark Fuck Prince type character.

X-Files: all myth arc after season 3. They ran out of ideas so quickly, and then they came up with new ideas for the movie and they were so, so bad.

Most often, I'd say the fandom. That is definitely true for Doctor Who and Star Wars. If I have to pick an actual part of them, then for Doctor Who it would be 10's run. Particularly Series 2. And with Star Wars, it would be a large portion of Attack of the Clones and the parts in Force Awakens that were just a rehash of ANH.

with Tolkien, about the only part I don't really like is Tom Bombadil and that whole section of the books. I get why he wrote it, but it doesn't work for me.

Babylon 5 would be series 1.

MCU would be either of the Hulk movies or Age of Ultron (well, parts of it, specifically the Black Widow/Bruce Banner stupid romance that made no sense).

For Overwatch it has to be KBM players on console. They can suck all the fun out of a match.

For the MCU, I have a minor one that I hate. The line, "That doesn't look like a party to me." It is such an awful line with such awful delivery.

No main cast here!

All of them. If I ever fav a main, it'll be in a fandom with a cast so minimal it doesn't have minor characters at all.

Tim and Rachel on Justified. Especially considering how annoying Raylan and Boyd got as the series went on.

Does Brienne count as a minor character? If so, Brienne from GoT.

Uhh. Some shows/games make it really hard to define "minor" characters. I'm just kind of going with non-party NPCs, but this is difficult.

Edit: Oh and I guess because I was talking about this the other night I can't not mention. HUNK and Nighthawk.

MCU: Nick Fury and Maria Hill, oh and Helen Cho, I thought she was cute.

SPN: Bela, Ruby, Rufus and Anna.

Mass Effect: Aria.

GoT: Brienne and Davos(TV show rather than the books, but even then this is probably still a stretch, but meh, they're the only good characters I give a stuff about in this series these days).
