161. Your statement has me confused. If you don't like Palin because of her political ideology, it means you're treating her with the respect that feminists have been fighting for - you're treating her as an equal and then disagreeing with her, not just voting for her because she's a woman. While I admit I haven't watched as much BSG as I should, it seems like characters like Laura Roslin have done as well as they have because they live in an egalitarian society. My point is if this is the reason you hate Palin, you aren't a hypocrite.

115 - OW is a decent actress, but I frequently find the character dull as dishwater, and all the super! Dramatic! Details! aren't convincing me otherwise - it's the show, don't tell problem, which has only been getting worse on the show. That said, I'm more than a little creeped out by the vehemence of some of the reactions to her.

144. Hmm, perhaps you're looking in the wrong places. I've seen plenty of people who hate NGE. Case in point are some of the people that have replied to this secret. Myself, I'm a big Evangelion fan and it happens to be one of my favorites, but I don't think you're crazy-I can see why people would hate it (it's dreary and depressing, unlikeable characters, confusing narrative, unanswered questions, the infamous abstract ending, etc.), but incidentially those qualities are what endears it to me. To each their own.

145. Aw, that's so cute. :D I loved that book, despite the open ending that everyone in my sixth grade class complained about.

173. THISx1000. I'm really tired of people debating who was right and who was wrong. Near even actually says it in the manga: "Nobody can tell who is righteous and who is evil...I act on what I believe is right." or something like that. The characters are acting on what they believe is right, and none of them are truly good (maybe Papa Yagami, IMO, but even so his view does not succeed in the end) or truly evil.
And yes, moral grayness FTW.

177. I'm one of those few who don't hate Nina (I find her really interesting, actually), but I kind of agree, except I want to see her somehow team up with Lelouch. The chance seems impossible, but it will be funny because it's like there's a hivemind built around Lelouch or something. Lelouch likey? We likey. Lelouch not likey? We not likey. Case: Suzaku (who I've seen got an increase in love because he was appointed Knight of Zero by Lelouch) and the Black Knights (because they turned away from Zero). Lol Geass fandom. Maybe Lelouch has been secretly using Geass during all those episodes on the audience. xD

that speech was the moment i knew i was completely in love with near. it was like OMG YES SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS. everyone was so in love with their idea of justice, and he knew that it was all relative. neeeeear ♥

this actually made me laugh out loud. not the secret(though that is probably true, it would certainly explain why everyone seems to think the books sound very fanfic-y). no, it was the last pic in the corner. for very silly reasons that is absolutely hilarious.:)

renee is my hero, and yet, she makes me feel as sexually dysfunctional as so many fans say gabrielle was. she's absolutely sexy, and yet i find it impossible to have actual sexual thoughts about her; even though i dream them on occasion. she was the first woman i was ever attracted to. 10 years later and i still feel strange fantasizing about her. and while i'd hit that in a heartbeat, i cannot see myself actually even kissing her. conflicted self is retarded.
but it's amazing to know i'm not alone in my xena fandom here:)

164. Take it from a a long time lurker who finally joined fandom in the last year, it can be worth setting aside the fear. I've made a lot of really good friends in the two years since i stopped lurking in my fandom, and i'm better off for knowing them.

This isn't to say i didn't make a public fool of myself a few times, but really, you live and learn. From being a long time lurker, you already have an idea of what is considered acceptable on public forums, and what isn't. That will help you not make a faux pas.

As for low self confidence, that will hinder you. Really, just be yourself and relatively honest (polite too). People will either like you or they won't. I don't like everyone i've come across, and they sure don't all like me, but whatever, no big deal.

You will delurk when you're ready to, make no mistake about that. And it's scary as hell at first. But it can be very rewarding in the end. Even if fandom is a disease most days.

i remember the days when poe wouldn't accept lj community submissions. I long for 1999.

Sorry for not including Mello D: I chose those three because they (well, not even Near so much, but in some circles) are the main ones that people hold up as having been "right". Most Mello lovers have the sense to realize that, despite the ideals driving him, he may have gone about things the wrong way.

106: I love, love, LOVE this series of books. ESPECIALLY the first two. Pretty much anything with any mention of the wolves. They've become my own personal werewolf canon.

And how SAD IS IT that there's no fandom I've seen on LJ. Writing fanfic for them would be horribly intimidating, not only because of how AWESOME it is, but because of the horribly complicated demons/afterlife/witches/covens thing she's got going on now.
