I'm still fond of Larsa/Penelo (and see hints of Balthier/Penelo), but I agree that I really dislike the taste Basch/Ashe leaves in my mouth. And I like Ashe as a character. (Why is the Balthier/Ashe end of fandom so small? I cry.)

I am with you totally. I love William Bush. He is the greatest sidekick to have ever sidekicked.

However, I am also in Brewers fandom, and "I <3 Bush" will get you weird looks over there because David Bush about half of the time can't get out of the first three innings without getting his ass whomped. (actually, when I see a Bush-hating comment on LJ, I have to stop myself from seeing how many runs he's given up because whoever they're talking about, it isn't the pitcher.)

130. The problem you're looking at is that for every shining, glorious fic that uses OCs, there's a thousand Mary Sues, because Mary Sues are the refuge of bad fanfic writers everywhere. (shrug) The ratio only changes slightly for canon characters. So people see those thousand Sues, and lose faith before they go and find that one gem.
