How about you stop generalizing people? I'm a political science major ... I read about the issues and I identify with the Democratic party because I agree with what they stand for.

It's not like the majority of us are like "ooh, I like the color blue so I'll go with the Democrats" or "Ooh, I want to be a Republican cuz I think it's cool".

Some of us are informed, thanks. Just because we call ourselves Democrats/Republicans doesn't mean we're stupid.

151. Okay, so I've been watching the DVD like crazy lately, and I've picked up this bad habit of turning everything the Inspector says into a naughty innuendo. I was sort of lukewarm towards him when I saw it in theatres, but I've suddenly started being the biggest Inspector Detector perv on the planet...probably because he's a fox. I don't understand fans who claim certain characters as being Mary Sues, but then bash them for their obvious flaws. If a character is imperfect enough to have such drawbacks, wouldn't that make them rather un-Sueish? It just seems to me that some people like to take their subjective dislikes, and try to portray them as objective ones that others must agree with or they're wrong.

"This character rubs me the wrong way" becomes "this character is poorly written".

159. idk about the middle novel, but I think Twilight and A Great and Terrible Beauty were pretty good. I don't see how the latter could be bad at all, though.

Um, no. Dude. I'm 28 and a literature PhD. I have read more widely than everyone I've met outside academia. I agree that Twilight sucks. I have no desire to read the other two series up there so can't say if they're any good because I won't pass judgment on anything I haven't read. (The fact that I don't want to read them does mean I think they look bad.)

BUT. There is also a lot of YA out there that's good. There's a lot of interesting things going on in YA. Wicked Lovely was a terribly good book, and I'd like to force everyone who read Twilight to read Wicked Lovely as an example of doing it *right*. Scott Westerfield, Tamora Pierce, and Dianna Wynne Jones are all *brilliant* contemporary YA authors.

Out of curiosity, what literature do you think is good?

Plus, Spike's VA is doing the voice of Wolverine in the new X-Men cartoon. How fantastic is that?

I'm staying away from the fandom and just kind of enjoying the show from a distance. I loved the books, and I'm curious to see how the adaptation plays out.
But I really don't want to have to see all the Twilight fans screaming about how it "copies Twilight" because they're too retarded to know that it's based on a series that was out before Twilight was even thought up.
And yes, I'm also afraid that they'll flock to it because OMG VAMPIRES!!! and some might like it and stick around and I don't want to see that :C I'm much happier being ignorant - because then I can still enjoy it for what it is.

I hugged a tree for three hours yesterday and I still have bark all over me. D:
