I agree with you that Hux was coming off two major losses (Starkiller Base was his baby, too, which must've been that much worse for him, and then the cherry on top of that shit sundae was being mocked on his own bridge by Poe, who then went on to take out the FO dreadnought; Hux very easily could've ordered his forces to fire on Poe but nope, his own hubris got the best of him).

Of course Hux is going to be punished for all of this, its expected: Snoke is an evil dark side entity and the FO itself isn't known for its leniency. But the way it was written was tinged, imo, with comic relief, and not just for the scene on the bridge when Snoke appears to dole out that punishment, but throughout the whole of TLJ. Like when Kylo throws Hux into the wall of the shuttle, that actually got a laugh when I saw it in the theater, as did Hux's mimicry of Kylo's order to fire on the incoming speeders (they even wrote in Kylo giving Hux that look as comic).

That's what I object to: not that Hux was humiliated in the first place, but that it was written the way it was, as if the man who'd done all this evil mastermind shit like designing and building the super weapon of Starkiller and then using that weapon to destroy an entire system of planets was suddenly reduced to this goofy clown-like figure that even the junior officers would roll their eyes at. I mean, take Darth Vader and Orson Krennic in Rogue One: Vader force chokes Krennic and tells him "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations," which is some pretty cold blooded shit to say to the mf you're choking, but it's also got that comic irony. But that scene felt very different to the scene where Kylo Ren force chokes Hux; the menace is there but the feeling is much lighter. To me, anyway.

Oh, and I also agree with you that Hux is awesome and hot. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, lol.

Why do you say it's more likely he was born after the Noldor left Valinor? Curufin's wife stayed behind according to HOME, meaning that Celebrimbor would have to have been born before the Flight of the Noldor. HOME is only semi-canonical and I'm not bothered by anyone who decides not to use any particular bit of it, but as far as I know that's the only piece of evidence we have either way.

Anyway, I like to imagine him as born in Valinor also, while his family was still together. I like the image of tiny Celebrimbor learning his first lessons in smithcraft from his father and Feanor. :)
