152. Perhaps, but remember that after a certain point Mary Sue is not just what a character does, but how a character does it. Actually I think she's the other kind of self-insert - a viewpoint character, the kind the reader will identify with... someone to walk around the crazy fictional world she lives in and go "wtf is this shit" for us all. Heeh.

152. Except she's not a Mary Sue at all? She's really smart, sure she's pretty but so is everyone in anime, and the hottest guys in school like her because that's sort of the point of the anime. She doesn't do anything annoying or ridiculous and has her own character instead of being an empty shell for people to project upon. She's more normal than anybody else in that series.

152. THANK YOU. I'm a bit surprised how many people are agreeing with this secret, honestly. Haruhi's one of my favorite female protagonists (and how many MALE characters have those aforementioned traits but don't get called Gary Stus? Honestly, now). Just because the Host Club have flamboyant personalities doesn't mean she doesn't have a personality; it's just more understated, has subtler nuances to it, and I personally think her view of gender is expressed in such a nonchalant way, one that's so normal for her, that differs her from a lot of heroines. Everyone goes on about how easy it is to project onto her yet..I don't at all see it. I don't know of many people that have claimed to relate to her.

129 -- I do have a secret like that. (Actually it's not a secret since everyone I know knows about it.) I love both of my parents. They are the most amazing parents I could ever hope for. They have done everything they can over the course of my life to make sure i was happy and taken care of and I can never thank them enough for the support they've given me on the path I've chosen to take.

I don't exactly want [character x] and [character y] to be my parents instead of the ones I have now... I'd just like to have them also be my parents. i know both of my parents are at home while I'm here in college. I hear from both of them via phone at least once a week. But when I'm lonely or I need someone to push me into doing my work I pick up a figure of [character x] and pretend he's telling me to do my work and I say. "Okay Papa! I won't let you down!" Or when I'm hurt or sick I look up at my poster with [character y] on it and pretend that she's telling me it'll be okay and I'll get better and I say "Thanks, mama. I feel better already."

It's just a weird crazy thing I do. I'm not sure why. I think living alone for so long in a tiny box of an NYC dorm has made me kinda crazy.

152. I find it funny that of all the pictures there are of Haruhi, you pick that one to talk about her "sueism". I'm not going to argue for or against it, but how many times does she dress like that in the series? How often does she dress like a girly-girl? Barely at all. So of course she looks like a Sue in that picture, but you shouldn't have to misrepresent a character to "prove" your point. Just sayin'
