120: I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN IT. D:

One of my best friends, [livejournal.com profile] xcgirl08, is also one of the best fic writers I know, IMHO. She's written... two fics, I think? Here, let me link them to you.

Absalom (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4327425/1/Absalom): A conversation between Master Oogway and a younger Tai Lung; because darkness of the heart is something that falls slowly.

Desiderata (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4343459/1/Desiderata): Somewhere in between the invading army, new allies, sword practice, battles and espionage, the lesson is learned: a warrior's work is never done. Eventual Tigress/Tai Lung.

Yesss, thank you!

I only read secrets that are either related to fandoms I care about or fandom in general. No anime secrets, no Heroes, no Harry Potter or Twilight.

And I can guarantee that none of those secret makers give a crap that I don't read them. Just like no one gives a crap that you don't read the long ones.

THIS. It would probably be good if the OP had read her own as well. :P

YA, ME TOO.

Liking a couple has nothing to do with shipping them.

[identity profile] toyo-kun.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I have that same text book, and I totally ship them too!!!!!!! =D It makes class more interesting, lol.

[identity profile] killerqueen42.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
116. That Crossfire segment is one big Crowning Moment of Awesome.

126. Hahahahaha, never took Japanese but now I'm wanting to go back to my old high school French textbook and revisit those characters. Can't recall actively shipping them, we just all laughed our asses off at this Hector guy who looked like he had a dead animal on his head. But yeah, textbook shipping FTW!

140. I'm pretty sure the OP meant "the appearance/personal life of the author" shouldn't matter, not that s/he was suggesting that the author means nothing.

[identity profile] gazzafizza06.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
I started taking French in 7th grade (I'm a Junior in college now) and I still to this day can recite a dialogue from my 7th grade french textbook from memory because it was about the textbook's characters (who we also had videos of...) having a date.

Stéphanie: Quel heure est-il?
Jean-Paul: Il est (I don't remember the time...)
Stéphanie: Ooh là-là! J'ai un rendezvous avec David dans vignt minutes! Au revoir, Jean-Paul!
Jean-Paul: Au revoir, Stéphanie. A bientôt!

"I would have sex with this funny, intelligent, attractive man" is a secret now?

Hasn't it always been? :P

I've been so tempted to do that. I can't see cans of Heinz beans in the store without being tempted.I think I'm going to have a beans and sugar cubes potluck before the film. Along with calimari and/or takoyaki, even if Snyder did change the ending. :P

...I think I might have to steal that idea.

109

[identity profile] ginnyseta.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see that too.

I LOOOOOVE the song from that scene.

[identity profile] ex-hayato987.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
NOSTALGIA BOMB. Yes indeed-- I was such a huge fan of the cats in that movie... particularly Waul, and little me saw subtext in anything that meant he did have something of an appreciation for her singing if not a fondness. I can relate, secretmaker ):

[identity profile] hola-meg-a-cola.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
112. This is pretty much my feelings on that ship. I ship them as friends, nothing more.

126. Are you me? More importantly, are you in my class? We talk about the relationships of the Genki characters all the time. Feel free to friend me on here =3

146. Sweet Jesus, I'd actually ship it, and I'm not big on slashing.

[identity profile] bbluejenn117.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
116....Jon Stewart has it all, the wits, the sarcasm, and the looks. The bit on 'Crossfire' was brillance....although his interview with Chris Wallace the other night was pretty darn good "yes, shame on me for showing human emotion"

[identity profile] nest.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, how can you NOT ship Genki characters? Other Japanese textbooks might have half-assed reoccurring characters, but the ones in Genki are so much cooler. I DON'T GET WHERE ALL THE ROBERT HATE COMES FROM THOUGH. >:

I wish my current university used Genki. The department talks about how they want to change textbooks, but they won't listen to me when I suggest Genki. ;;

[identity profile] arwydd.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
122 - Chucker = Church/Tucker? I know what I was thinking - WHERE THE HELL I MY TUCKER??? DDD:

125 - I <3 that cover (and the accompanying article) SO MUCH.
ext_81845: penelope, my art/character (so what?)

[identity profile] childings.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
107 Oh shit! I didn't even know he died!

108 I wish I still had a gym membership. :( What's with all these fit-related secrets all of a sudden making me feel bad, damn.

109 LOL WHAT THE FUCK THE HISTORICAL MEANING

114 What the fuck is wrong with "acting like a slag" anyway? I think Americans need to grow the fuck up and realize that sex sells, and what's the problem with a young woman making millions of dollars off of sex appeal? If that's what she wants to do, who gives a fuck? It's PERFORMANCE

133 Oh, you crazy Britons.

137 I like to think my family is feral sometimes. Especially when I visit my dad's relatives in Arkansas. (Actually, they're quite intelligent for country folks, but still.)

142 I don't understand why people can't fucking get over Starbuck as a female. My roommate is 42 years old and loved the original BSG, watched it on tv when it first came on, and even he admits that Starbuck is a much more complex character in the new version than the original. I mean, come on, anyone can write a snarky male antihero (he's basically a Han Solo ripoff anyway). The new Starbuck is a character that I've just never seen done before on television. I'm not going to go into the whole "which series is better" argument because honestly, I think both are good in different ways, except we can all agree that 1980 is shit (and the new version can be cheesy at times, too). But seriously, you should watch the new series, especially if you're the type to read hard sci-fi novels, like Asimov-type sci-fi. I wish there were more sci-fi series on television that were more 60s ethical, philosophical type science fiction than space opera kind. Not that I don't like space opera.

TL;DR At least watch the first season of the new BSG before you come to a final judgment on it. Or at least the miniseries.

114. Aahaha. Am not American. It isn't about the fact she acts like she does. I have respect for plenty of acts that do just that. It's her pathetic attempts to cover it up that pisses me off.

I'm not in the fandom either, but I read the books, and that's my school as well.

Wtf.

(Anonymous) 2008-11-10 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think that's uncommon. That's how I cultivated an obsession with NIN-- the music is so important to my best friend that I started listening so I could know her better. And kept listening.

[identity profile] fyirechilde.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
