(marvel comics/ the inhumans comics) I get incestuous vibes from a lot of the Black Bolt and Maximus interactions, and I never know if I’m reading more into it or if is deliberated on the writers part to show how fuck up their relationship and family are.

(marvel comics) I love Nathan(Cable) but I can help but I feel he was kinda of a character that was created as sort of a “beta test” to see if the readers would accept certain tropes that would plague comics for years to come (evil twin, time travel, is related to established popular character, …). And Marvel seeing that he was well received, started to use this tropes all the time.

I've been unintentionally reading it as "Homestruck" with an r, and not "Homestuck". I'm not in the fandom but I've been reading it that way for years, and my realization that I've been reading it wrong only happened a couple of weeks ago, lol.

I know it's reductive and maybe prejudice to write off a whole genre, but I refuse to watch any romantic comedies. I just don't like them and don't find them relatable.

I dyed my hair to look more like the woman my partner says is so hot (Charlotte from Sex and the City). I kept the reason secret, because that seems like a silly and jealous reason to make a major physical change.

I was BEYOND TERRIFIED of the old Child's Play movies when I was a kid, to the point of hyperventilating when my brat of an older sister would watch them around me, but I recently watched them and...I feel silly. They aren't scary at all. They are cheesey. Why was I so terrified?

This is apparently a really unpopular opinion and makes me selfish or something, but...I need comments on A03 to keep motivated to write. Kudos don't mean anything to me. Maybe I'm "writing for the wrong reasons" or am being needy, but if I go a long time without comments, I don't write. I'm not punishing anyone, it's just not fun anymore. Secret because altruistic writing seems super big here...

When I see a remake or reboot of any media I can’t not compare to the original (or past iterations). This doesn’t mean that I will not like the new version (hell sometimes I like it better than the original), but I can't look at it on its own and not compare it.

Remember those Discovery Channel/Animal Planet documentary specials about dinosaurs or prehistoric creatures? They were filmed documentary style and had, for the time, futuristic graphics/animation and were supposed to be super realistic?

I'd buy them ALL on DVD.

I have a super emotional connection to them. I grew up in a troubled home, but we all got along when those came on and we gathered around the t.v. to ooo and ahh at them. It was a rare time of peace for us.

I know it's silly, because it was just t.v., but it's one of my only good childhood memories.

I don't have a lot of t.v. watching time or patience nowadays so I only watch something if it has a slashable pairing.

You know how cringey it is when people use Japanese honorifics or random Japanese terms in anime fanfic that's otherwise written completely in English?

Yeah, I ate that shit UP when I first started reading fanfic, especially in the DBZ circles.

I actually thought the third Aladdin movie wasn't bad. I mean, Aladdin's dad is total DILF material, but moreover, it was better animated than the second movie and the cartoon. This is a secret because everyone is supposed to hate Disney sequels.

I write in a small fandom. So small that it's pretty much just me and another person writing for it.

Lately we've been mixing up some of the pairs a little bit, just to have some variety.

People keep saying "This is okay, but I like (X) better. (The stories are still well-received for their corner.) Which, fine. Stop leaving all of the writing to us then.

S!B: I'd feel like a jerk saying that to my readers.

All my slash pairings have a character who tends to be described as a lot more, well, twinkish than he actually is - i.e. slight, relatively hairless, with pretty, delicate features.

Sometimes fandom takes this too far for my liking, but for the most part I’m into it (pretty, delicate guys are my type). That’s not the secret. The secret is that I constantly find myself being surprised and a bit disappointed when I see photos of the actual character. My brain goes, “But he just looks so...straight.”

(I am aware that it’s problematic to say someone can look gay, or look straight. How one looks does not make them any more or any less gay. That’s the main reason why it's a secret.)

While out dancing one night a few years ago, IRL with some friends, a few too many drinks in...the music was too good...and I was feeling too nice...and feeling up on myself (just a bit, as one does when dancing), when in this trance like state of mild inebriation, a name slips from my lips...

I really hate excessive dialogue in smut fic, I don't feel like anyone actually does 'dirty talk' well and I always find it so awkward and cringey.

Right now, I'm really enjoying my fandoms and getting into new series. I'm active in creating content alone as well as collaborating with others and it's been so fun to be able to express love for my favorite ships and characters with other people on various social media platforms. That's not the secret.

I also stop to read drama posts from BNF's who feel the need to "fight back" against haters of their favorite ship, even though they could just as easily ignore it. I come back here every few years or so, or whenever I remember this place exists, as a kind of litmus test for changing opinions on fandom in general over time. I also come for any drama, troll posts and anything that might insight the old guard. I feel like at this point, it's easy for me to focus on the positive aspects of fandom, but like watching a train wreck in slow motion, I also get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing people tear each other to pieces over what amounts to imaginary characters that really have very little impact on the real world aside from their own internal turmoil.

I'm not sure if that makes me a troll or not, and I don't really care.
