Seriously, I obviously don't agree with the whole genocide thing, but I really wish that side had been given more of a voice. I think if so many readers weren't just in it for the wish fulfillment of "I wish I one day got a magic letter in the mail!" they wouldn't identify so damn strongly with the muggleborns and some kind of case could be made on behalf of the more conservative end of Potterverse politics. Maybe if you've grown up in this world, you don't want a bunch of people coming in and not having the same amount of understanding right away and maybe never developing the same kind of instincts but just demanding equal power right away anyway? How can you NOT think these people might threaten your world? It's not like they don't have one of their own already.

I hate one-dimensional portrayals of evil! It's like when people think about the Holocaust as some unprecedented evil so great and inexplicable that it has to be a one-time thing and can't possibly be understood from a Nazi perspective - it's just ASKING for the same thing to happen again! If you refuse to understand how their perspective develops you'll never be able to prevent the same trends.

It's not like muggle-borns suddenly appeared, you know. They'd been there for at least a thousand years (and most likely arriving continuously since magic appeared); the wizarding world should be used to them.

And I don't think the books have a one-dimensional portrayal of evil. It's not a complicated story, but I think what one crazy man driven by self-interest and power-hunger could turn otherwise sane people into was done rather well.

Well, in-game, Sheik used magic and transformed into Zelda towards the end. Which leads me to believe that Sheik is, indeed, male.

But idk. This whole Sheik-Zelda thing has been debated about forever. It's really interesting to see just how adamant people are about Sheik being a girl, even when Sheik looks just like a man in OOT.

106. I don't think people who don't ship Wincest are weird, so much as I just honestly have no idea how to react to them. Which I guess is partially down to the fact I'm scared that if I start squeeing about SPN to then I will forget that they are not a wincest shipper and accidentally squee at them about Sam and Dean being soinlove and gross them out or something.

Also, I sometimes feel uncertain about reading fic by non-wincesters who I'm not familiar with, because I worry they might not love the (canon) Sam-Dean relationship as much as I do. Like, I was reading some Dean/Castiel the other day and it had Sam and Dean splitting up and some of the other characters were talking about how Castiel had replaced Sam for Dean. D: DNW!!! I am fine with reading stories where Sam and Dean have no romantic or sexual interest in each other, and occasionally I will read stories where their sexual/romantic relationships with other people are central, but not if the boys' importance to each other is undermined. /o\ And I know gen fic by a hardcore wincester will not do that, but I can't be sure with non-wincesters.

103. I am so amused at the way people are misinterpreting this one. People, read the whole secret and learn the meaning of "used to".

150. Literature is meant to have different interpretations. No one viewpoint is more "delusional" than another. Also, the wikipedia thing kinda makes you look like the obsessive one.

175. The writers of those kinds of stories tend to impose human emotions on the animals. I adopted a kitty who had been left at the vet because the owners either couldn't or wouldn't pay for his surgery. He is very much loved, and I am sure your kitten will be too, or if he needs to be put down, that he will have a very peaceful passing. I honestly don't think animals are capable of 'hate', even when humans put them through horrible things. All that matters to him right now is that he is comfortable and safe. You did the right thing.
