I made a fandom friend through work once and yeah it was bad. In my experience all work interactions with them were marred by the knowledge that we both knew each other's taste in fanfic. Crossing the streams never works.

I find that very amusing, but then, I am a twisted little bastard who enjoys the concept of someone having to rely on their talents rather than their pretty face (or connections or money for that matter).

(This currently doesn't affect my opinion of the actor mentioned here, as I know pretty much nothing about him.)

Disclaimer: This might be wrong. Corrections are welcome.

If I remember my research correctly, specifically Chinese eunuchs were able to get married after having 'served their term'. Their relationships were referred to as 'two friends eating at the same table', but they did happen and sometimes resulted in (adopted) children.

Further disclaimer that I don't know anything about the canon and this might not apply to it, but accounts from modern-day men with injuries seem to suggest that sexual relationships and attraction are largely still present. So _if_ you want to write smut, there's nothing stopping you.
