You prefer subs? Your dyslexic friends prefer subs? Great! You choose to watch them that way. Gooood for you -- it's your preference. Saying "BUT YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE WHICH YOU LIKE BETTER" is pathetic. And don't even try to play up the "I have dyslexic friends!" card. I'm pretty sure we can all tell that, if your dyslexic friends dared to prefer the dubs to the subs, you'd be getting uppity with them too.

If someone doesn't enjoy subtitles in the shows that they're watching for THEIR own enjoyment, THEIR own entertainment? That's their choice. Because, you know, they're doing it because they enjoy it, so they shouldn't have to shut up and watch something subtitled when they don't enjoy it as much as the dub just because you've decreed yourself to be the authority on what's acceptable or not when it comes to watching a goddamn anime. Seriously, think about this: you are getting bitch over whether people feel like reading subtitles while watching a goddamned cartoon or not. Take a few minutes to fit that into the "perspective" part of your brain and maybe you'll realize how absolutely ridiculous that shit is.

No, our fandom isn't the only fandom full of "epic hate," and I'm pretty sure any other fandom that's getting that much shit every day is within equal rights to tell people who are being dicks at them to back off. I don't give a crap if people love, hate, despise, worship, or print out and burn Hetalia, and I think some of the fans are being dicks. But you know what? If the haters (the actual haters, not just the unfortunate people who don't like the series/are offended by it that are getting bitched at lately for, yeah, I'll admit they're dumb reasons) get to have free speech and throw a fit at every single person who dares to be in the fandom? (Saying that, I'm in the Reborn fandom, too. And no, Reborn did not get NEARLY the treatment that Hetalia seems to be getting, while it was annoying. The two really don't compare, though, even on the Reborn fandom's worst day. For sheer levels of "you are a horrible person for liking this thing," this is seriously reaching Twilight levels, and that's always retarded right across the board. DISCLAIMER: I haven't read Twilight; I probably won't. But I am kind of curious about how we're defining Mary Sues, now. I'm assuming that the secret means stupid = character flaw, and therefore =/= Sue, but if the plot bends to serve her despite her having this "flaw," and she doesn't face any real consequences for it, then I'd judge that to be the very essence of Mary Sue.

152. My problem with Twilight had more to do with Edward's creepy obsession with Bella than with her apparent Mary Sueness. I mean, I'm all for creepy, obsessive, one-sided romance in fiction (Phantom of the Opera, FTW!) but not when they're portrayed like a happily ever after. Edward is bad news from the start, but for some reason, nothing he does is considered bad or wrong in any way. It sends this weird message that it's okay for a guy to stalk you and control your life, so long as he's got pretty eyes.

That's what squicked me out of Twilight. And the way the fans react when you try to explain this to them is even freakier. "But it's okay, because he's Edward!" And the way so many people seem to want this guy in their lives? Seriously? If I saw Edward Cullen, I'd run screaming in the opposite direction.

137. - I can honestly, totally say that Sapphire is my favorite Pokemon game ever. Yes. Better than Silver. Sapphire introduced contests, had a great landscape (volcanic ash, desert sands, underwater caverns), it was the first game to include the much needed redesign of the box system, and the Pokenav made it really easy to find new battles. Battle tower, a chance to make a house, and the new pokemon sprites were great looking and colorful.

But I still wouldn't mind having a remake of Silver for nostalgia's sake. And also, cyndaquill. (Headbutting trees to make pokemon fall was cool too... I wish they would have brought that back in Diamond instead of smearing honey on trees.)

A friend and I created this third account way back in our early LJ years to use when we wanted to say/ask things we didn't want to be associated with and couldn't be anon...it was a total n00b thing to do, and needless to say we don't really use it anymore except to spam on each other every now and again, but I always kind of want to sign on and rec some of my stuff or something. 110) Oh god, yes, me too. I was so ashamed by the Strictly Business quest because I kept thinking of how disappointed James would be with me. It got so bad that I went back, wiped out all the Slavers, and saved the three characters I had to collar.
