Subs are SO EASY to read, it becomes almost involuntary. Half the time my friends and I don't even REALIZE we're reading the subtitles.

105. Just as a note, because I haven't seen this brought up and it's been kind of eating at me... My mom actually does have trouble reading subtitles. She has to concentrate to read the sentences on the screen, and if they're too long and/or going too fast, she can't catch all of it. I know other people who really do have to concentrate, or at least take a lot of their attention off of what's going on in the action itself, in order to read the subtitles. So I can understand people not wanting to put all that effort into it when they feel it's not worth it and there's an easy alternate solution out there.

105. If it's a godawful dub, I agree, but if it's a dub that stays mostly true to the Japanese version, it just comes down to personal preference. I like subs more, personally, but it doesn't really matter? What random other people do isn't affecting you, right?

107. Have no shame! I do that for books I don't want to read, too. Then in my head I can compare and contrast the book character and the fandom character I'm pretending s/he is. Sometimes it can be really interesting and fun.

Dr. Cox-ish Jerk (And just jerkish in general) :( I used to love him but he just started acting like a spoilt, jealous, narcisstic jerk.
For example'I don't like ugo's' I don't know how anyone can call J.D a 'sweet guy' after that :/ (And geez, Zak Braff is no sex God) I'm alright when a character has flaws but J.D can be downright mean and unpleasant without later being redeemed.
There are times when he can be childish and cute with Turk, but ugh, I just find him whiny and pathetic most of the time. I know it's meant to be a comedy but it's not funny. /rant (I could go on forever, sorry)

The only i reason i even watch Scrubs anymore is for the Janitor anyway. Even Dr. Cox got repetitive and dull.

Someone preferring dubs to subtitles does not mean they are lazy or stupid or can't read. Most subtitles, both official and fan made aren't exactly easy on the eyes which can hurt how a person reads. Some people want to put anime on while they are doing things and so they can't be facing the screen every moment, and other want to focus more on the visuals and the look of it.

Honestly, my preference would be a) Japanese RAW b) Dub and then c) subtitles, it is just the way I view things.

105. There are three dubs of which I prefer over the original voice-overs. Ranma 1/2 English cast. Spirited Away's English cast. And Hunchback of Notre-Dame in Arabic! I'm still trying to convince my husband the latter was better in Arabic.
