1. I've definitely seen that happen before. For all the terrible fanfiction in the universe, there are those that are inversely amazing and brilliant. <3 I tend to get attached to characters who aren't the main focus of an anime/game/series, so I especially enjoy fanfiction for the fact that writers can choose to focus on and explore characters or relationships that weren't as spotlighted in the original canon as I would have liked them to be. :] <3

2. YES. Ohjesusgodyes. DX I mean, I don't think apps have to be incredibly long by any means (even if... it kinda is at the RP comm I run. 8D Although that's kinda because the setting is kinda far-removed.) ...WELL, OKAY, like, if I was joining a game rather than running it, I'd be okay with a not-horribly-long app, but if I come across a game that has a very short app? It'll actually most likely convince me to not apply. (I also tend to enjoy longer apps because it gives me a chance to test out my knowledge and comfort with the character, and decide if I feel I'll have fun and do a good job or not. :3)

3. Yeah, like, I guess I could see how people could see him as sexy...? But he's pretty damn scary to me. D: (I'mnotinthefandom,but.)

4. I'm sad no one has responded to this one so far, because I totally know what you mean. :/ Seriously, WTF, DoC. VINCENT ALREADY RESOLVED HIS ISSUES aaggghh. T_T

7. I guess I could go either way on this one. Like, I'm on DevArt, and I've gotten similar comments to that one, but I guess a certain line has to be crossed for it to bother me? Like... if someone was like "Oh, I love your picture, and I don't even like so-and-so very much!" or something similarly tactful and flattering, I wouldn't mind, but if someone said something as blatantly mean-spirited about a character as your example... yeah, I'd be a little peeved. D:

4) Personally, I have never seen that as a real moment of absolution... but I've also worked so much with POWs and PTSD survivors that I'm probably biased. (OK, I KNOW I'm biased. But still. :3 Agree to disagree here?)

I want to do it again, but I share the same fear. of course, I still prefer to cosplay girls, but given what the half of them are wearing... *sigh*

:D I say, fuck 'em all. If you spend time and energy into making an awesome costume, that's all that matters, and when people see a good costume, they know it.

Um, not a flame, but personally I don't find you or the girl in the photos, whoever it might be, attractive.

But, I was thinking, maybe everyone else is reading the secret wrong? I was thinking about it, and it could be something like someone special to you like a significant other or some such once called you 'the prettiest girl in fandom' and you're trying to live up to that title, which is hard. In that case, I can sympathize.

If not, then... I'm wondering how you came up with the title of 'prettiest girl in fandom' in the first place?

You're also reading it wrong. It's just a somewhat conceited dark secret of a girl that's not really that self-absorbed. You can't see my face clearly anyway, so how can you judge what I look like?

Like everyone else, I read this and automatically went: "Jesus, how fucking conceited can you be?" But after some good thinking on it, as well as reading all the other responses, I kind of realize that this is a secret comm and it's almost admirable that people can be brutally honest, as ugly and selfish as that honesty may be. (After all, people, the point of a secret-sending-in-service is for people to be able to be honest. If you scare honesty away, then what's the fun of a secret-comm anymore? It'll be washed-out. :( That was the fun of PostSecret in the first place--no one ever gave feedback on secrets, so people were able to send in terrible, shameful things without being directly judged.)

I know that there are some incredibly ugly fandom-related truths about myself that I want to get off my chest very badly, but am afraid of posting because I know my friends watch this comm and might recognize the similarities. :( So I can kind of sympathize with your secret's situation, if not the sentiment. Because seriously, prettiest girl in fandom? What the fuck?

Then again, that's not half as bad as some of my secrets that I'll never find the courage to post, so perhaps I shouldn't talk.

Anyway, after my tl;dr ramble, my point is: Things have been getting way mean lately. Ease up, people--even on the seemingly retarded. :(

This simple secret gives me more confidence to actually get out there and cosplay. I'm not exactly skinny, and I know that I'd only pick cosplays I wouldn't look utterly terrible in, but I'd still be worried that people would secretly hate the things I do because of my size. Thank you for saying that there are people who love cosplays even though the person isn't 'perfect'.
