What the fuck are you trying to do by using Nia as an example there? Make your stupid secret not only irrelevant but also based on misinformation?

a) Nia wasn't supposed to be a "moe character" but rather a self-aware throwback to the classic shoujo heroine. It's similar to Kamina and old-school Go Naiga hot-blooded heroes. And I'm not only talking about the combination of social awkwardness, quirky enthusiasm and princess-like elegance but also about the entire aesthetic:

b) Her role and personality were 100% justified. Her gentleness and overall curiosity/joy for life were a perfect contrast for Kamina's aggressive and larger-than-life ideals. And it goes without saying that her "innocence" was the key to the narrative questioning itself about the nature of humanity.
