There is always balance in the universe because I ordered an 18" food crime of a big greasy pizza; chicken kiev, there's no tomato sauce, just garlic butter, on a stuffed cheese and jalapeno crust. I have a pizza hangover now.

Packed all my clothes and such since I am spending the weekend at my sister's house. A long one at that since I took Monday and half of Tuesday off!

Totally agreed. Too often shows are pushed past the point where they should end because they're an easy cash cow.

Super disappointed they're making RD season 2. That was a standalone series if I ever saw one.

Yeah, I agree. I hate the 'it was a dream' or 'they are just crazy' or whatever things they do that make it all basically mundane.

I *do* like to have some kind of...not necessarily explanation (I don't need a rundown of every. single. thing....) But it would be nice if the supernatural stuff made some kind of sense and had a workable frame to all hang on, though.

Just whack-doodle out of nowhere stuff is just as frustrating, to me.

I think that's fair. There's always an element of performativeness and exploitation to it.

It reminds me of how in ye olde times in London eating whelks became fashionable. They were poor people's food and the wealthy elite started a trend for eating them alongside working class people. Jump forward a few centuries and you can see the same behavior in rappers. Middle class black guys rapping with lyrics like they grew up in deprivation. I think it's a desperation to show that they're not sheltered and soft in some way. IDK. There's something there in human nature anyway.

Yes, it was!

Some of the teen shows of that era had legitimately good eps and plots early on. The fact that most descended into ridiculousness does not change that.

Asian American/Pacific Islander. (If you're not in the US, you may not have the constant stream of news/social media info about the shooting in Atlanta this week, and this is far from the first recent incident. :/)

IIRC there's a bit of a trend towards turning a blind eye to youth doing things like that in Asia. Different country entirely but I know in Japan people were turning a blind eye to young people beating up homeless people.

Same. I feel like I have the worst luck too. I have multiple fics that are 150k+ and updated on a steady basis for multiple years that just stopped shortly after I started reading them. I feel like I am a WIP killer and so I stopped reading them for the good of all fandom-kind.

To be fair, unless you're involved in a kid's life to some meaningful degree it's hard to know these things. A succinct summary of an average day in an (x) year old's life isn't necessarily easy to come by, or if you do find one you have no way of knowing how generally applicable it is. Parenting is definitely 90% learn on the job.
