You sound insufferable. Stop offering beta services, no one wants a beta like you.

Aw, that's great, OP, both that they left some lovely feedback and that you were able to look at your fic in a little better light. Sometimes a bit of distance can make it easier for us writers to have a better view of our work :).

I hope all goes well with the writing, both with this story and anything else you may now be inspired to write. And I hope things become less stressful for you in general, too.

I've been in a similar spot, OP. Every few months, I get a lovely, detailed comment on an old fic for a small fandom, and it always makes me so happy.

I'm genuinely curious what exactly a Furby fandom is like now :D. And I have so many questions about this picture :p.

The only time I've ever had an issue with April is how she keeps mistreating Ann. At first, it was understandable; Ann did spontaneously kiss her old ex (Andy) even though Ann (and also Andy) had a thing for each other. And because April was like, what, 19, so it felt in-character and appropriate for her to react in such a childish manner by being constantly petty towards Ann.

Otherwise, the fact that April kept singling out Ann whenever she insulted/picked on people way more than she did to others even WAY late into the tail end of the series - long after she's married Andy and Ann moved on with her own life - came across as amazingly petty. After a certain point, it's just comes across as mean-spirited.

Anne of Green Gables taught me it was okay to be different and to enjoy reading and be smart and not fit in as a girl.

Star Wars and Harry Potter were my early fandoms and gave me a safe space during difficult times.

Legend of The Seeker was probably the first fandom where finally I started to admit to myself my bisexuality.

Tolkien gave me a sense of hope and helped me a lot with my depression. And the fandom helped me a lot too with motivation, with feeling better about myself, just finding a place I fit in and felt at home in.

Would you still object to this if they didn't use the word "coded"

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
you know what? you are absolutely right. the only "monsterfucking" I've ever seen is other monsters fucking Dark Magician Girl, which is the lowest bar to set. Monsters fuck hot girl *yawn*.

I would do my best to rectify this but I can't write for my present fandoms right now, let alone a fandom I fell out of more than 10 years ago. still. hold out hope that someone takes advantage of the massive database of demons, dragons, and straight up bizarre monsters.

April is funny and hot imo

It's a sitcom

Sometimes unrealistic things happen

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has helped with my depression a lot this month. It's just awesome all around and I'm so thankful to have gotten a chance to experience it. I'm also grateful to have something, anything, to look forward to in the next few years via the upcoming sequel.

Mashups of popular songs have been good for my health too, both mentally and physically as I listen to them working out - getting the best of both worlds is always a treat. I love when DJs mix Depeche Mode with pretty much any other band.

Don't know if this really counts, but there have been a few lines in fics which have been like somebody has looked directly into my head. Those have been pretty life changing.

The Witches books from Discworld have shaped me a lot too.

I don't agree at all!

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, those are always terrible.

The Mountain Goats. Several of those songs have been a great help in my more depressed and suicidal periods.

For CG bunnies, they're actually pretty cute.

NAYRT

What do you mean?? If Dean Winchester was literally an eldest daughter?

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, maybe don't beta for folks.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
If somebody talked about how Dean Winchester had many traits societally associated with oldest daughters and how that resonated with them.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT
Oh, gotcha. I think that would make more sense than using the term coded, as coded kind of implies that was the intent in his character, which is...very, very questionable.

What new things have you tried or done recently?

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Tried that 'Korean Roasted Barley Tea' from Trader Joe's today. It was pretty good!

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Furby fandom! Oddbody Furbies are magnificent.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I love all those 'popular classical paintings but with Furbies' that occasionally circulate online.

I like the third one too OP because it was an excuse for Bill Nighy to be back in a meaningful way. I love the weirdness of his career, that he found fame relatively late so seems to have just decided to have fun with it and doesn’t care how silly some of his roles are.

The second one is my least favourite and I’m fairly sure about 80% of my lukewarm reaction to it can be blamed on the ridiculous belly button fucking.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-01 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes the fic you wrote that you think is "meh" is someone's favourite in the whole wide world. I love that about fanfic.
