Also, in one of the games, Batman provides a contingency plan against himself.

(Anonymous) 2021-05-07 12:21 am (UTC)(link)Add to that the fact that contingency plans that rely solely on one person being able to activate them are seriously shitty contingency plans. If he was serious about wanting contingencies in case, say, Superman snaps or is mind-controlled into a worldwide rampage, he'd make sure other people in the Justice League knew about and could activate those contingencies. Maybe compartmentalize the information so no one other person knew how to take down everyone, but making sure there are backup people as well as backup plans is 101-level preparedness. Since he doesn't do that, like, ever, it comes off more like Batman being a paranoid, egotistical ass than Batman being properly prepared.

(Anonymous) 2021-05-07 02:02 am (UTC)(link)Being the only one amongst the Justice League without superpowers he does have to consider the possibilities of someone going rogue or getting mind controlled... which DOES happen pretty often so it's not entirely paranoia.
"B-but what if Batman is the one that goes rogue?", he still doesn't have superpowers and is not as much of a threat as a murderous villain Superman. Writers being braindead and creatively stunted is a problem amongst all comic books, but Batman being paranoid should not be surprise to anyone. Whether it's justified or not depends on the arc.

(Anonymous) 2021-05-07 01:50 am (UTC)(link)Question.
(Anonymous) 2021-05-07 02:41 am (UTC)(link)Because from what I've seen, depending on the writer, they only act responsibly and/or rationally if it's convenient to the plot. Otherwise, they let their neuroses, insecurities, cultural differences, communications issues, and personal issues have free reign. (Though that can be said for a lot of characters, comic book or no.)
