that sarah z video was very educational and explained a lot about everything I saw in passing on Tumblr back in the day.
I saw a graphic novel for it at my local library recently - is it possible to read it without the webcomic? I'm kind of curious tbh.

i, too, am a bit sad lmao

it especially sucks bc for many years after the official ending of the main comic, a lot of folks who still wanted to bother were doing fine having our own lil nostalgia corners where we still enjoyed our fav parts of it. you could definitely get away w just making/enjoying content about hs proper and ignore say the epilogues or whatever. tbh it's so fucking long, you could even easily get away w only ever bothering w the parts of the main comic you like and ignore the mess of the rest haha

but the relationship that the creator and subsequent contributors have w the fandom is such a persistent mess that it has soured the hell out of shit for most people past the point of no return. those tiny lil nostalgia corners still kinda exist. but it really sucks how the interpersonal bullshit fucked up even the good memories for a lot of people.

I think it is such a shame that the flashes don't work properly on the official website. Like... the integrity of the whole thing is impacted; you'd think with all the people still involved with HS stuck they would work on porting it all over to HTML5 instead of making bad sequels...

Anyway, original HS will always have a place in my heart. I don't pay attention to anything afterwards, none of it is real

TBH, even towards the end of the actual webcomic, it was dragging. It was getting too meta, and pretty much sticking it's head up it's ass. I always had the sense Hussie just wanted to finish the monster he created and finally be done with it.

I never got far into the epilogues, or even tried to read Homestuck^2, but what I've heard suggests to me that the creative direction has become more and more hostile to the fandom. It's really a shame they couldn't just let it end.

Yeah, I agree, I don't see how she'll be an Avenger or hero after this. I wasn't that attached to Wanda so I can't say her character's ruined for me, and I did enjoy the show, but what she did was awful. Grief doesn't excuse anything, and multiple times people begged her to stop or help and she didn't.

It was so weird they let her go with 'they'll never know what you sacrificed'. Wtf? She held a town hostage with a fantasy.

Idk. I don't know the situation, but depending on how well he knew those folks or how well they could take a joke, he seems old enough to know better. Just because something was a well-known thing for a long time doesn't necessarily make it okay now.

But again, if it was a group of friends just being stupid with each other, I wouldn't think it was any of my business. If he was just putting his dick on people at random because it personally amused him, or if he was abusing his power in some way, I would say that deserves some repercussions at the very least.
