155. I just want female characters to be aknowledged as people, instead of being bashed all together for being girly or tomboyish whereas the guys can get away with murder, rape and/or other atrocities as long as they have pretty faces or badass fighting skills (*hello*, Ali fanboys).

I'm in complete agreement with you, OP. I find Apollo way more interesting than Phoenix. He actually wants to do his damn job as a lawyer and the game goes so far as to even try to hinder him from doing it. It's awesome and Apollo's snark to it makes it even more adorable. Hell, I love the 4th game more than all the others.

I mean, as long as one's not assuming that there will be a fandom, thinking it'd be fun if there was... well, I can't imagine why anyone writing any original story wouldn't want this. XD I'd love to see all the pairings, the varying interpretations, people loving it, hating it, defending it to others and amongst themselves alike... it'd be hilarious and so fun. :D

160. Same here. I don't claim to be a gamer, much less a good one, but the appeal of those games is somewhat lost on me. I mean, you can't see what's coming. You practically have to memorize the course to get through it. It... loses fluidity, that way. I like for there to be a *chance* to get through even the harder ones at first go, and for it to be natural and not so... technical (I don't think I'm wording this correctly XD). I guess I wouldn't say they're "hard", because once you play them enough it can get easier (that is, getting to know the courses, and what each little pathway/arrow/whatever means...), but... I just like seeing what's ahead of me before I go flying headlong into it. :/

175. LOL Well, I saw/see it too, but it doesn't bother me. She's a sue, but not in a bad way. She's a jerk in the beginning and comes around, saves Wall-E, finally choses him over her "directive"... sues don't get that kind of character development. They can be jerks, but that would be overlooked, or regarded as a flaw in name only, if that makes sense (like "she's not perfect; she's a jerk!" "yeah, but you're forgetting that the show/story/movie/canon/context/whatever practically glorifies it :|" or something). So the sueness lurking under the surface doesn't really bother me--a lot of characters have that. Funnily enough--and spoilers here for anyone who hasn't seen it, I think--you know that part where Eve saves Wall-E in the garbage disposal room? Apparently, that was originally going to be the other way around--Wall-E saving Eve. I think *that* would have made them both into sues. 'Cause, y'know, that would make Eve go all damsel-in-distress, and Wall-E would have to turn all strong savior. XD Anyway, in short: she's a sue "on paper", so to speak, but in context, it works. IMO.

I actually decided to take the Mary Sue Litmus Test to see how EVE would do. She got a 49. Although, granted, WALL-E got a 48 and they're the main characters so they're almost expected to be the "perfect" character, especially in a Disney movie. They do need to make their personalities simplistic enough for a kid to understand.

Now, I also took the test for Auto because I was thinking he's sorta ridiculously overpowered (although, I do see why: he does, after all, need to control everything on the ship; that's his job), his score's going to be OVER 9000. I mean, wheels with tazers and that can turn the ship at crazy angles at important moments who is more-than-willing to kill just strikes me as "Sue!" or at least "Sue-esque" but, evidently, I was wrong because he got a 9. I'm guessing the lack-of-personality thing helped him out a bit.

Out of curiosity, I also did McCrea and he was -1. I guess not being able to walk and being a blimp merits a negative score.

Long story short, sure those Litmus tests are good for some things, but I'm not 100% sure they're totally accurate. I mean, the villain who can literally do anything because he's completely in control of the entire landscape gets a much lower score than the cute little protagonist who's main goal is to fall in love after spending 700 years alone, picking up trash? That's not making sense to me. Because they're not human/humanoid, the rules for Sue are slightly different I think.

So, yeah, EVE personality analysis = fail.

I've seen some great analysis of EVE's personality and character development, actually. Not in that secret concerning her, though.

As a fun fact, I was planning a story once, and decided to take the litmus test for some of the characters. A socially awkward, not-so-bright, unattractive nerd/geek guy who has the worst luck in the universe and no special abilities whatsoever, and is considered annoying by almost everyone, somehow scores "irredeemable Mary Sue", mostly because he was plot-relevant (due to, I don't know, being a main character).

Then there was an irrelevant side character whom I knowingly created to appear as sue-istic as possible (beautiful, top student at school, gets married to a good-looking, righ guy). She scored... I think it was under 10 points, as she wasn't very relevant to the plot.

There are moments when the Litmus Test just doesn't work.
