[I read this book when I was in my early teens. As an adult, I could not remember anything about it except a general idea that I had absolutely hated the book. I decided on a whim to re-read it recently (at 33.) After I finished it, I remembered that I hadn't hated the book at all. Rather, it had so profoundly upset me that I mentally shoved it away from me as far as I could. I had the same emotional experience reading it at 33 that I had at 14 or so, except that I was mature enough not to knee-jerk "hate" it. I can't even really explain why it upsets me so much. I know there must be an actual reason, I just can't articulate it to myself exactly.]

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am visiting my sister for the weekend. We are going to be planting some flowers in her new garden beds. It is also her fiancé's birthday, so we will be making him a cake.

I might also try smoking pot? My sister and her fiance both got their medical cards. I've tried gummies and they did nothing. My sister said smoking might work better but I've not smoked anything ever. So, eh.

So you want historic westerns but don't want them based anywhere in the reality that was the old west? Don't white wash my indigenous ancestors' history to suit your modern sensibilities. It is offensive to the struggles they faced and still face.

Unpacking, organizing, and other moving-in tasks. My mom arrived a few hours ago, and she's the planner, so I'm sure she'll have a plan for how we're going to do things by tomorrow. Resting since I still have the headache and nausea that started yesterday. If I watch anything, it will be Doctor Who series 1 because I'm in the mood for a Who rewatch.

(Have you checked out the US television miniseries Centennial? You might enjoy it, its the story of the town Centennial, Colorado, from the first Native Americans to the "modern times" of the 1970s, this series was made in 1978. Its a good modern Western, imo.)

My big priorities for this weekend, in no particular order - I'm gonna sleep a lot, I'm going to try and put together an Ikea kitchen table I got a month or so ago and haven't gotten around to putting together yet, I'll probably watch some sports, and I'm going to sleep a lot.
