What’s happening, FS?

Too hot to cook, so I made egg salad sandwiches for dinner.
They came out nice.

Air conditioning = good.

It's too damn hot today, but at least I have blackout curtains and AC.

Ate my leftover thai food. It reheated really well. But now I got the sweats from it. Today was mostly meetings at work and rain outside.

I've got a second job interview with the firm I interviewed with last week tomorrow morning. Super excited. The one thing that gives me pause is turns out they are on the 13th floor of their building. Really hoping my height phobia doesn't show up tomorrow and make me too flustered to sell myself.

Other than that, I've been taking it easy today on account of being super sore. I woke up and I could barely lift my arms because they and my shoulder blades were so sore. I believe this is just a normal reaction to a really good but really intense deep tissue massage yesterday. Hopefully I won't be in as much pain tomorrow.

I watched the Tour de France this morning, and after that I went for a quick run in the park before it got too hot. And I took my nail extensions off today, they were looking raggedy. I was tired of long nails so I went back to my natural shorties, and picked storm gray glitter polish with neon red accent nails (and pedicure). Watching the NBA playoffs this evening.

this is maybe going to sound stupid but I seem to have formed some sort of emotional attachment to my physical therapists (I have a bad knee) and I was not real thrilled to find out today that they feel I don't need to go to them anymore after next week. I'm glad my knee is getting better of course but I will actually miss them.

I have some important advice to share: if you find a random sweet in your jacket pocket, try to remember the last time you wore that jacket BEFORE you put the sweet in your mouth. Especially if, just for example, you recently dug some old clothes out of storage...

One of my buns appears to be sick. :/ Won't eat anything but her favorite treats (clover flowers) and I suspect it's a tooth issue rather than a GI issue, but it can turn into a dangerous GI issue even so if it's not addressed, so if she's not eating normally by tomorrow, vet time.

And I could hardly sleep last night due to worrying about her, and I'm sure I'm not going to sleep any better tonight either. Even though I worked 9 hours and spent my breaks carrying concrete blocks back to my shed (they were in a pile in my driveway, heh).

Managed to do a little cleaning. Unfortunately failed a bit at work though. Hope I do better tomorrow.

I slept on my balcony last night because it was still 34 degrees in my bedroom at 2AM. Sleeping on the balcony was super weird as I live in a sort of shitty complex where the balconies are mostly used for storage or not at all. So it's not remotely a place my brain thinks if as a sleeping place. Kinda worked though. It was cool enough to sleep some.

Finally got my mini deep freeze up and running today. I'd been putting it off, but now I've got three 4L jugs of water in there which I can snuggle when they turn to ice. #strategiesforsanity

Anon who was randomly mailed sweatpants by mistake here. I've received four more packages of sweatpants. All with the same logo, so there is some method to the madness. One or two of them might even fit members of my household but the rest are going to ARC or my spouse's coworker's kids. I'm expecting 2 more weeks of this, assuming amazon actually fixed their mistake.

What are some of the most unrealistic character survivals in media?

(Anonymous) 2021-06-28 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
An example is Indiana Jones surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge that is tossed miles.

oh god. Shane Casey in CSI:NY. Having the personality of a Batman villain and being left in the custody of the stupidest cop in the world wasn't bad enough but he falls off a lighthouse and doesn't even get hurt???

Ahahahahahahaha, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of the Crystal Skull.
Side note: I really enjoyed seeing Karen Allen ("Marion") again!

Glenn and the dumpster in The Walking Dead. That was the season I stopped watching.

Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight Rises. Especially with how realistic Nolan seemed to be trying to make it.

Frodo and Sam surviving Mount Doom in the movieverse. Because they were right there near the lava and should have been burned just being that close. And then the volcano has a massive eruption after the Ring is destroyed, and there is no way they should have survived long enough for the eagles to get there. This is only in the movie, as the book version makes way more sense.

Like 80% of the physically traumatic stuff that happens to non-enhanced superheroes in superhero movies. You really just have to turn off the part of your brain that knows how fragile human beings are. Not that humans don't occasionally survive insane things that absolutely should've killed them; it happens. But most of the time shit just kills us, and I often get frustrated with the way the totally normal, non-enhanced superheroes are treated as though they have the same impossible resilience as the enhanced supers. My brain is like, "NO. They just died at least three times in that one scene alone. AT LEAST."

Yep, +1 for the flying fridge.

Arya getting stabbed several times in the stomach and then swimming in dirty water, and Jaime sinking to the bottom of a river in full armor and then somehow swimming to the shore a mile away without getting noticed and killed.

I kind of feel like most scenes where a character nearly drowns is unrealistic. I mean, I'm sure the time is just being stretched for the story, but when someone is down in the water for five minutes, panicking and flailing about, and then somehow survives with little to no bad effects, I have to shake my head. But I admit I have a phobia about drowning so maybe it just seems longer to me.

I find it difficult to believe Sherlock Holmes manages to survive literally falling in to the reichenbach falls in the second ritchie movie lol. yeah sure he had the breathing device to hold his breath but my god, the impact of falling? the rocks??? the current??? I'm glad he didn't die, but /how/????
Come to think of it, I wonder the same about the end of nbc Hannibal... But that's a little more open-ended.

Harry and Marv in Home Alone, definitely.

If you could live anywhere in your home country, where would it be?
