I've never hidden the fact that I write yaoi fanfic from anyone. Usually when someone asks me what I'm writing I tell them "Gay Porn" and we either laugh hysterically about it or it shocks/horrifies them so much it amuses me. I lack the shame gene.

Yaoi fanfic writer also goes over well at parties when people ask me what I do for fun.

I used to be a fan of the pairing until it started leaking into every conversation, no matter how irrelevant, and despite the thin amount of evidence. Then I realized I just preferred them as friends.

Usually when people leave fandoms en masse for a new one, it's not because they couldn't become BNFies, it's because the old canon either jumped the shark (in the opinion of the people leaving) or the fandom is full of nasty wank, or something like that. I remember when you could tell who in SPN fandom had come from the Slytherin end of HP and who had come from the Buffyverse. It was kinda funny. Fleeing giant wanks or deciding that your old fandom is no longer giving you what you came there for is a natural stage of fannish life and if it never happens to you in this fandom great, but it will in some fandom, someday. You will say the eight deadly words: I don't care about these people any more. And whether you are talking about the characters or the loudest voices in the fandom, it will be the same thing. So, don't go hating, because someday it will be your turn to be the the stranger with the carpet bag.
