I like it mostly because it's so much easier to find the comment threads for not secrets, not fandom, etc, because people would always label them differently. Also you can tell right away which secret got all wanky, and all that chatter is in one place. Plus you can give secrets with no comments some love.
For people who wanted to just leave their one comment and split, I can see this being really not as good at all. For those of us who liked seeing all the conversation about individual secrets, this makes it tons easier. AND, it's easier to find the OP, not ask stupid questions because someone usually already has, or not wander into a fight that isn't yours sort of by accident which I have done any number of times. (Such as, wow, I know better than to ever comment on Watchmen secrets.)
So I vote yes.

It does make a neater, cleaner looking comments section. Pity it's so much work and can't be done automatically somehow.
I think it needs a few days to see what the trends are. Partly because there wasn't a single secret today that took my attention XD
I donut like, but I could probably get used to it. I just seems like an awful lot of work and not totally necessary. But if you're up to doing it, who am I to tell you no?
Voted no, but... meh, honestly, I think letting this run a week, then repolling will give everyone a better idea of both the ups and downs of this style.
Ask again next Sunday.
Ask again next Sunday.
It makes things easier, so I voted yes.
But if it's too hard to do by yourself, then just go back to the old way.
Or maybe get some more mods at your back.

I'm sorry but for all the "b'aaww it's more work for the mod!" comments: There's like 12 of them FFS. It's not that much extra work. And it's their own damn fault for even posting the suggestion it in the first place.
Actually, there's only one mod in this community. Look at the userinfo page.
You're probably thinking of LJSecret.
But yeah, if the mod here is idiot enough to make more work for him/herself, that's his/her problem.

I think it's a) a lot of extra work for commenters and you, and b) makes people looking for new comments on certain secrets look at a whole lot of threads, instead of just reloading the last page of comments. Then again, it makes it easier to find interesting comment threads. I find it somewhat less enjoyable, I think, but I can see the upside.
And thanks for trying new things with the community and listening to comments!

I voted yes, as I find myself reading more of the secrets even in fandoms I don't know, because I can read the secret and then read all the comments. With the old format, I'd normally just remember a few interesting ones and then forget about the rest because you just can't keep track from post to post.
Also, it's so much easier if you are the OP of a secret. You don't have to work your way through 12 pages of comments trying to find the one comment to your secret on page 11.
However, I would totally understand if you didn't want to keep doing this, it seems like an awful lot more work for our benefit.
:)

If only there was a way on LJ to click the image to comment on it.. some sort of auto system ): That would be ideal.
That would be the coolest system EVER
I sort of like it and voted yes, because I like the organization. That said, I'm not super committed to it. The old way was fine too. Whatever happens is fine by me.
I'm really not a fan of it. I like to comment on multiple secrets in one post, and I like to see when other people comment on the same few secrets because I enjoy seeing people who are fans of the same varied fandoms. Plus I enjoy the general comments people make like "OMG NO MORE SPN SECRETSSS" or "Wow, tons of Jack Bauer hate today" for example.
Plus, I really don't mind searching for comments on secrets. I'm also less inclined to expand threads of comments when I can't even initially read a comment causing a lot of wank. I don't want to expand everything that has a huge thread just to find out it's mostly just a boring conversation between people sharing love on something. Whereas before you could scroll through and see a huge thread stemming from an original comment that said like "I totally disagree they are the worst OTP ever" and you just know it's gonna be juicy stuff.
I know those are silly and specific things, but those are some of my favorite things about this community.

I liked it because I could GIP for multiple secrets. |D
Don't do it if you don't want to, though. It is your comm.

The only way this is going to work is for the mod to let things develop like they are right now. If you are going to insist on threads for each secret, you're going to have to allow people to post separate comments outside of those threads, as well. Otherwise you're stifling participation and as someone said on the previous page it's ridiculous to delete comments when the whole purpose of this is to encourage comments.
Which makes the whole separate threads thing stupid and unnecessary, so it should probably just be scrapped.

I like how people thought ctrl+f was a hassle when clicking on multiple threads is pretty much the same as hitting "next."

Find is more work when you are looking for multiple secrets over 12+ pages. The expand feature unthreads the comment threads easily enough.
I like it. It gives me a strange desire to run around to all the secrets that don't have many secrets on them and comment on them, while before I wouldn't.
And makes me slightly disappointed when I have no idea what the OP is talking about so I can't.

no, cause I usually have dumb comments and I don't really want them scrutinized. I'm sure I would have known this sooner if there was a similar setup when I started
:)
I don't know why, but your comment made me snile.

I love it. Makes finding other comments SO much easier.
I'm not sure yet. I say try it a few more times. And thanks for putting in the extra effort to try this out!
I said no, because I like to open Notepad and write all my comments in that as I scroll down...but I can live with, I s'pose.
You can still do that, just copy and paste your responses into the right threads!
I love it. I always have about 15 secrets I want to keep an eye on the responses for, and it's a nightmare going through page after page searching for each of them (and then missing responses where people don't put the # in the header.) I always ended up having to have an open notepad file and the browser stacked side by side, and having to keep going back and forth from one to the other on every page.
So much easier and more intuitive to follow discussions this way.

I like it about as much as I did before -- either way, it's time consuming because you either spend time clicking for 11 pages to find the comments you want to read, or you spend time going back and forth between comment threads for the secrets you're actually interested in rather than posting them all in the same comment.
Also, when I passed some of the comment threads for secrets I wasn't interested in, I found myself scrolling back up to see what secret some of comments were referring to out of curiosity. Which was time consuming and distracting but not your problem so much as, well, my choosing to get distracted.
I imagine it'll just take getting used to, but if you kept it this way, I wouldn't hate it/care very much.

And, I should add a thank you -- I appreciate you caring enough to poll about it because this would actually create a lot of extra work for you if people want to do it. In the end, I still think you should do what you want to do with your community, and I wasn't having problems before.
Too much work on everyone's part. You have to make all those comments and everyone else has to go look for every one they want to comment on.
No, sir, I don't like it.
I am one of those strange people who likes to go through everyone's comments not for my secret but for everyone else's. Sometimes someone will say something about a secret that I wasn't interested in and it will intrigue me enough to start a conversation. However, with this new setting, with only the first comment showing and the rest in name only, I am less likely to go searching through all of them just to see what people have to say.
The difference is like going to a book store where each section only has one book on display as a representative of that genre while the rest of the collection is in hiding versus having rows and row of books to browse.
Yes, it may be harder to search for responses for your secret using the old way but isn't anyone interest in what other people have to say about other secrets?

That's what the expand link is for. I have a basic account, but still have that funtion on this comm.

I find myself reading way more comments now, as now it is so much easier to read the secret that everyone is commenting on.
Before, I would remember a couple of secrets and only read those, because I got so fed up of scrolling up and down the pages mulitple times per secret to find out which secret they were talking about (memorizing that many secrets and their numbers is not going to happen for me).
