It's more work for you.
It's more work for us.
Is there suddenly something wrong with Edit>Find (CTRL F) in everyone's browsers?
I still vote no. Old way is fine.

Yeah, some people like being ~creative~ with the secret number.
I like it. I feel more like I'm talking about something instead of shouting my opinion to flood.
I don't because sometimes i forget about secrets i find interesting and I'm afraid if the threads stay with the new system I'll never find the comments for those secrets.
But maybe that's just me.
But maybe that's just me.
Anh... I'm still trying to get used to it.
It gets a little bit, how can I say, stiff? Or, maybe, it's just that everyone is still getting used to it and that's why things look like this.
I say test a little bit more. Een though 'yes' is winning.
PS: I never minded looking for my secrets ont he comments. That's what the ctrl+F command is for.

I like it. I usually don't care about a majority of the secrets, so being able to find the relevant comment threads without wasting time sorting through 11 pages is nice.
I'm also a little confused by people saying there wouldn't be multi-secret comments left, though. Unless you're planning to delete them all, they could still have them all they want...

Well so far I'm not too keen on it but it might only because I hate change...so I voted the third one...
I voted yes but if it doesn't stick, that's fine too. But you are not a terrible mod! You obviously work crazy hard for this community. When I first read the about the new commenting system, I was impressed that you're constantly working to keep the community evolving and improving. :)
I really gotta say... I LOVE the new commenting system. Like the others, I hope it isn't too much work for you. But GEEZ it is so easy to find and reply. Everything else was so chaotic. I really hope you keep it. Thanks!
It wasn't bad. I actually don't mind it. <3
I like it!
But doesn't it create even more work for you?

Get a Co-Mod who does the comments for you.
I like it. It's cleaner and it somewhat forces you to really think if you want to replay to this or that secret.
But dear god, get a Co-Mod.

Yeah, they wouldn't even need admin access to the comm to make comments. But I guess they would need to be around when the post was going up. It might be easier just to have one person do it unless you allow them to do the whole post.
It took hella long to load the pages, making it far more aggrivating to search for the corresponding secret post. :/ I don't like the system at all. I think it could work if we weren't so huge, but we are, heh.
I am much, MUCH less inclined to read other people's comments in the new format. It would take a HELLUVA secret to make me wait through the lag just to go look up the comment thread for it. I'd end up reading many fewer comments for any one secret, because there'd be no more spontaneity in casually reading other people's mixed-secret comments.
Agreed so much. In the old system I read and commented on a lot more comments, even on secrets I didn't comment on myself. But in this new system it's just too much of a hassle to find the corresponding comment threads.
For people complaining that it's just Ctrl-F Enter in the old format, it isn't. It's Ctrl-F for each secret for each post for each page of comments! Think about that for a second, it's crazy. Then, if you wait long enough, you have to repeat the process for new responses. Also, people don't always post the number of the secret they're responding to and some posters have names that contain numbers that correspond to a posted secret (eg. Pinklover197).
For people complaining about the new system, what's wrong with searching out the secret thread and posting there? It's way less work for them in the new system than for people who were searching for responses in the old system.

Here's what I'm thinking:
1) Get a co-mod, so it's just you and the other mod as members of the comm.
2) When you make a secret post, make it members only. You post the secrets in the entry, while co-mod gets to post respective secret threads.
3) When all the work is done, turn the entry from members only to public, thus letting everyone watching see it. Will reduce confusion (ie trying to post the threads when people are already seeing the secrets).
Try that for about a week, we'll see how it goes. I like the idea but I don't think one entry is enough to test it out. Also, for everyone bitching that it's too much work for him, he is the one doing it. If Case really didn't want to do this, he wouldn't have thrown it up here for debate; he seems like more of a neutral partyif not one with a lot of time on his hands than a guy who's under ~internet peer pressure~.

I definitely liked not seeing >9000 of the same comment on one secret. After a while, it gets kind of repetitive. And I wasn't contributing to that, either, which is nice. XD
On the other hand, there were only four or five secrets I felt like responding to today, so finding the threads for them might be more annoying if I had more. Today it wasn't.

I'm curious; what is this loading issue? Maybe my internet's (thankfully) too fast to bother me about this but...how would this make it load slower? Isn't it the same number of comments per page anyhow?
And as for me, I voted yes but I don't mind the old way. The new way's easier but the old way's multiple-commenting was fun too.
Most people are probably like me though; interested mostly in a few secret's posts. I usually just note those secrets down on notepad and then ctrl+f them on pages. This makes it easier to find comments for each.
If I like, say, 3 secrets and there are 10 pages of comments, that's at least 30 times of ctrl+f'ing. And then going through the timestamps and the numbered usernames.
It's a lot of work for the mods to post a comment for each and every secret during the secret post; I do agree. Whether the trouble is worth it...That's up to you guys(aka mods), really. We just read, we can't really judge that.
Anyway yeah, I prefer the new system.

When I forget to change from my AOL browser into another one, it stalls (but it stalls on practically everything, including its own search page). In the other browsers like Firefox, I didn't have an issue at all.
Life will be good when I change providers. I am getting giddy at the thought!

This, so much. There are times when I want to read comments for 10 or more secrets. It gets to the point where I try and memorize the numbers and scan my way through, but some always get left out and missed.

Voted no because it's too much of a hassle and it's even more chaotic than before. The original system is fine, if it ain't broken don't fix it.
I was just wondering, do you code all the secret posts manually? Because omg that's a lot of work. (in my mind I thought you have some robot or something that can do it for you :|||;)
I imagine they have a template that they copy and paste the links into, which is why they ask for the links to be posted a certain way.
AND THE AYES HAVE IT! SUCK IT, NO, RE-POLL & TERRIBLE MOD!!!!
I like it I guess, but I didn't think it was that hard to find the comments before, I just used search and find to search for the number of the secret and it was pretty simple to get to the comments you wanted.
This saves me soooo much time because I usually care only about the response to one or two secrets. I was doubtful at first (not a fan of change) but it's great.
KEEP IT. I know it's more work but it's fan-fucking-tastic.

Agh, how come with all the people complaining about it here, only 18.3% voted no? :( From these comments, I'd think it would be a lot more than that...
I guess people feel less of a need to defend a winning proposition. The "No"s are more vocal because they have more of a stake in making a case now. The "Yes"s are in a way, way, huge lead, so they don't need to complain, they feel their case is already convincing enough as it is, what with so many people already convinced.
I think I love this new system just a little. ♥
As someone who doesn't have all day to scroll through pages of comments just to find one or two specific ones, this is beautiful. It was organized, easy to navigate, and people were doing more than just having the same discussion over and over again.
It does seem like a lot of work but I'd definitely like to see it become a regular thing so long as the mods are willing. :)
