There are many celebrity kids that get to live their lives outside of the public eye. That's probably why you don't know they exist.

Celebrities are still people. They don't give up the right to have kids when they become famous. Some celebrities are pretty shitty parents but then again, so are some non-celebrities. Shitty parents are going to be shitty regardless, just in different ways.

Eh. With celebrities there's a whole other layer of complications, though, and that's that no matter what, their kids are going to end up under a microscope to be judged by the entire world in a way that a normal person's kids aren't.

There's a reason so many celebrity kids end up all kinds of fucked up and I doubt it has much to do with how good the parenting was or wasn't.

Yeah, I think Jennifer Lawrence had a baby. It’s possible to be a celebrity parent and keep your business pretty private, and not pimp your kids out for endorsements.

I don't have kids and I don't plan to have them, but wow. You know a lot of people actually like and want kids, right? And while there is some societal pressure to have kids, I think there's a lot of industry pressure not to.

The complete lack of empathy and emotional intelligence displayed by the childfree crowd in not understanding how other people can want something they don't besides -

Celebrities/ wealthy people in general are (unfairly) in a great place to have kids. They can:
- afford to take time off for the kids
- afford great childcare/ live in nannies
- afford other household help (cleaners, cooks, gardeners, personal trainers)
- afford big houses to fit their kids + their stuff, and to buy all the bougie kid paraphenalia
- afford great education and other activities for their kids

All of these things take a huge amount of the stress,unpleasantness and worry out of child rearing

They can literally outsource the hard parts and just enjoy spending time with their children when they want to while also living their own lives

Also, plenty of celebrities keep their kids out of the public eye successfully - Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes come to mind

Completely agree. I find the childfree crowd as obnoxious as the happy smug parents crowd (and I have kids myself). Jesus, isn't the whole point of us striving for equality as women that it's okay to have kids and it's okay to not? Why do we still have to have people fighting over this very personal shit.

Personally I'm ambivalent about the fact that I'll probably never have kids, and I fully support anyone who doesn't want them at all. There are tons of very good reasons to not want kids--ranging from the practical to the personal. But it is just wild to claim that "no one in their right mind" would have kids if they weren't being pressured into it.

Like, in addition to all of the other perfectly legitimate reasons to want kinds, there's also the fact that humans are animals, and as animals, many (though not all) of us have a biological drive to produce offspring. It doesn't make one any less human if they don't have that drive, but many people do have it and that's completely normal and natural.

Of course it's silly to project your own feelings on to celebrities, but you acknowledged it's not rational. i only respect it if the celebrities are not drug addicts or crazy and if they can keep the kid completely out of public view for as long as humanly possible. also i automatically lose all respect for any celebrity who gives their kid a ridiculous name. it shows they have zero respect for the kid.

The only surprise I feel RE celebrity kids is when a kid I swore had just been born is already grown up and I feel old. Otherwise, I am not thinking about celebrities enough to be surprised if they do or don't have kids.
