*shrugs* It goes around doing human things for human reasons. Sounds like at one point there was a good cop / bad cop act between "be good and you'll get presents from the nice saint" versus "bad children get kidnapped and beaten, or eaten, by the black-furred devil creature." Part II of which was sort of gradually shelved as beating your kids or threatening them with violent death became more socially unacceptable.

I agree that he's much more interesting looking than Santa, though.

Jon Stewart is welcome to his opinion, and his opinion is far more nuanced and interesting than the goddamn outrage machine. Chappelle is a dick, and Stewart isn't saying otherwise. He's saying let's have a conversation rather than instantly turn into screaming banshees.

nayrt - It's honestly a bit disheartening because it's like watching ignorant anti-vaxxers spout off on my Facebook feed. They're completely ignorant and proud of it, yet will seize on any ridiculous "evidence" that vaccines are eeeeeeevil and will kill you or whatever. But I prefer the straight up crazies to the crazies who are just savvy enough to pretend like they're reasonable and "just concerned about what I'm putting in my body" and "thinking for myself" assholes.

Agreed. His agreeing with Rand Paul about gain of function research stuff made me regret ever crushing on the guy. I cringed so hard at my past self I felt it in my bone marrow.
