sa
lol, just opened the thread and saw 'selfless'. What a coincidence.

He absolutely didn't want to make any hard decisions during Sokovia's fall from the skies. He also broke the law by lying and enlisting all those years ago -- and for what? He wasn't able bodied. He didn't want to help (how when he's so sick) but he wanted to do it, just because. He also went to other countries and used forced there which has unfortunate parallels with US which are exagerated by his costume and the name. Hey, it all checks out! Starks too, with US arms production, but Tony reformed in IM1.
I didn't see Steve Rogers caring for any individual passerby in MCU, or an animal, or anyone but himself and Bucky, really.
Sorry, I'm rambling. I really am not getting anything good from the movies. More moraly gray.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. Tony reformed is so funny. Like when he kidnapped a child to make him into a soldier?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I mean the Starks weapons production haha.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That old lie again? He didn't kidnap Peter. Peter agreed to come and May knew he was leaving with Tony.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
He lied to Peter and May. Taking a child out of the country by lying to them and/or their legal guardian is... guess what? Kidnapping!

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter was a CHILD. And he lied to his guardian and kidnapped him.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not a lie. It's what Tony actually did.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't understand how anyone can see him trying to enlist as anything but selfless when he wants to be out there with his fellow countrymen because it's (in his own words) the least he can do, help fight.

Like, nitpick his other actions sure, but wanting to enlist?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll explain after you explain how enlisting into military is a good action when you're very weak and sick?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

You seem extremely incapable of separating actions from intentions.

haha, no, I mean the arms production.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't stop that, just started making dozens of iron man suits. Which are weapons. He was just more selective about who he gave them to.

Every avenger went into other countries. Tony Stark is literally a war criminal. He ran the MCU equivalent of Lockheed Martin. He redeemed himself from a providing weapons to war criminals to just doing the war crimes himself.

And many, many soldiers lied to enlist. Such a weird thing to get mad about.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve'd be a liability to his devision fr. Like, you and your 20 mates, one of them can't carry his backpack, needs to go to the medbay constantly, causes you to die because he's too slow.
He enlisted for all the selfish reasons. It's like when you know you don't fit the position but you lie to HR to get hired and then can't do the job, but the job is important.

Re IM agreed. It's made worse by the dessert around as it's the direct parallel to the real world invaded countries such as Iraq. The US left a lot of weapons to Taliban so that'd be like entering their camps and blowing up the tech, only Talibans are now a government while IM dealt with illegal groups.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

He volunteered to be experimented on. Could have died, could have been disfigured. When it worked, wanted to go to the front to help. Sooooo selfish. *eye roll*

He wouldn't be. If he had been accepted, he likely would have been support of some sort.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
1) No, he's not. He does not fit any of the criteria for being a war criminal. What accepted international law(s) of war did he break? What part of the Geneva Convention did he break? None. And official weapons manufacturers aren't considered criminals of war.

2) Obadiah was selling weapons to terrorists under Tony's nose. What Tony is guilty of is not having kept a closer eye on what Obadiah was doing. But the latter was supposed to be a trusted partner who was a father figure to him and worked well with his dad.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony is guilty of violating the Sokovia Accords, which he had already signed:

1. No Superhero Is Allowed To Operate Outside Of Their Own Country Without UN Approval:
He did not ask for UN approval before chasing Cap & crew (who had not signed the Accords) to Europe, and then starting a big fight destroying an airport. He also coerced/kidnapped a minor into doing the same thing.

2. Using Superpowers To Break The Law Or Engage In Vigilante Activity Means Indefinite Detention Without Trial:
See fight at airport.

3. The Use Of Technology To Grant Superpowers Will Be Regulated:
Did he ever submit his suits to regulation? No.

4. The Creation Of Self-Aware Artificial Intelligence Is Prohibited:
Sorry, Friday... daddy broke the law.

Seems like Tony thinks rules are for everyone but him, and the narrative doesn't ever call him out on his bullshit.

I just hate any weapons inventors. Tony is guilty for inventing efficient ways to kill people and sharing them with the World.
No opinion on the rest.

You have a very skewed and biased view of Steve Rogers if this was your takeaway from the movies.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
What hard decisions did you want him to make at Sokovia? Did you want the US military to nuke them out of the sky???

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
ayrt
Any decision. He was just shouting that all outcomes are bad. His decision was inaction.

We got it, you’re a Tony stan so everything Steve does is not good.

You fussing about Steve wanting to sign up in the Army during WWII shows how very much you don’t understand the time period. Everyone signed up if they could, and if they couldn’t, they helped in other ways. The entire culture of the USA changed to support the war effort. That version of Steve does not bother me because it rings true.

I'm not Tony stan. But yes, Steve's actions are not good imo. But if I were Bucky, I'd appreciate the support. You're welcome to your opinions.
