DA but huh that kind of makes me want to check it out. I had no idea, I really thought they were all just one shots.

Even in the first season, I really hated that they felt the need to tie it up with a big climax at the end. I was naively expecting and hoping for just a series of interesting stories about alternate versions of the characters.

Now I’m not as enthused about the second season and haven’t gotten around to watching it yet.

I get what the secret is saying because the finales are NOT the strongest points but overall I had fun. The quality is certainly varied meaning that some of the stories are much stronger than others.

Also I'm not a fan of the animation (it looks really uncanny valley at times with how much they've tried to make the characters look like their original actors and yet somehow missing with a few of them) but the voice cast having many of the MCU counterparts back is quite nice, it's cool getting to hear them play with concepts they'd never get to do in the films.

Then you get things like it's quite poignant that S1 contains one of Chadwick's last performances. It's a good episode though.

This actually makes me want to rewatch it. It was ages ago and I remember so little.

I think I was mostly confused because I only knew Cronenberg’s body horror stuff and this was a completely different thing.

Tolkien fandom goes in and out of active level but never dies. It helps that it has been around for ages, there is no new canon but also different new adaptions at different points, and always things to talk about.

Sleep and rest. On day 5 of a migraine that won't go away. Maybe reading, working on a LOTR reread. I don't think I can handle watching anything.

Half baked crochet is goofy and adorable!

We're finally above freezing during the day, but the parking lot is still one big block of ice, so we're still iced in. Lots of gaming and reading. Maybe some naps.

I think the big mistake with the Star Wars sequels happened right from the beginning. It would have been far more interesting to have a villain group who were Imperial wannabes but who were in the role of the rebels now. By insisting on destroying the New Republic and copying the OT, the sequels lost the chance at a much better story.

I wish more fantasy would explore exactly how a world would be different than ours (regardless of era) with the existence of magic. I don't care what era the world is in, things wouldn't be the same as ours with magic. Medieval? Cool. Anything else, cool. Just have some interesting differences. Actually think about it.

I haven't watched this particular movie, but I've always gotten the impression that Cronenberg likes to hold a mirror up to the audience, to show them literal and metaphorical grossness that they are both drawn to and repulsed by.

For example, in a world where magic existed, gender dynamics would probably be different. In a world where women can defend themselves all through time, why would things be the same?

I will be majorly pissed off if SVU doesn't find a way to bring up the sickening silence from the world on the violent sex crimes committed against Israeli women on October 7th.

I only just realized that the book in my TBR pile I've been putting off reading? Doesn't have to be read if I don't want to. I can shelve it or donate it.

This is honestly a massive epiphany for me.

I honestly wonder what is the next thing in the fantasy and scifi arena that could possibly be successful. On the one hand, people are getting tired of known franchises. On the other hand, new things rarely get much of an audience. So what could actually work?

We’re snowed in still so just more homemade food, family time doing puzzles or playing games, taking the dogs out to play in the snow, and warming by the fire. It’s honestly been amazing <3

I wish I could force my family to play boardgames but one are interested. Wish I had a fire to warm myself by. Cold as hell in my room.

I might try to cook (I'm thinking baked ziti maybe?) and probably do some reading and watch some TV. Hopefully relaxing!

Stranger Things fandom is still chugging along. Everyone knows there's going to be another season but they've just barely started shooting it so there's only a few BTS shots so far and it's still too far in the future to even theorize (I mean, I'm sure the Bylers are theorizing, but I ignore them). I feel like the quality of fic in my preferred ship has picked up a bit recently which is nice.
