Honestly, maybe I’m as voice-deaf as I am face-blind, but I haven’t noticed any difference between his voice in 7 and 8. And I’ve been watching videos of both, so it’s not a matter of forgetting in the time between.

Either way he makes me question my asexuality so it’s all good to me.

I don't know how anyone *could* compare to Kuroda, especially after seeing the end of The Man Who Erased His Name. Playing a character for almost 20 years throughout said character's 55 years of (harrowing) life is a real tough act to follow.

I'm happy RGGS is giving dubs a chance again but I have no interest in listening to them myself.

Every time I'm reminded this show exists I'm also reminded that at one brief point in my life I was sexually attracted to Tom Cruise. Which is just so baffling now but man, he really was gorgeous as Lestat. Sam Reid doesn't do it for me and I think that's why I keep forgetting to check out the TV series. He just looks like Some Guy™.

But the books 'vampires have no sex, just act sexy' was kind of irritating, 'cause i personally think she did that just so there would be no icky m/m sexing.

As I said in a comment thread, I really don't believe that TV shows have a budget to pull it. Especially right now when costumes get money as an afterthought (excluding WOT I guess). You either go big with this period or go home.
Also I enjoy early 20s century more. But it's a matter of taste.
Shame about Claudia though.

Yeah, Claudia was by far my biggest issue with the show. She just isn't young enough for "forever a child" angst, and since that's the character's whole schtick...plus I did miss the non-carnal eroticism. I always liked the idea of vampires as divorced from baseline mortal sexuality as they are from baseline mortal food consumption, engaging with it in their own inhuman way. I do think the argument that that was just let Rice get around two dudes banging is valid, but...goddamn, nobody does non-carnal eroticism anymore, damn it.

I do agree with all of that but I have made peace with the Claudia issue because children grow so damn fast. I assume they cast Bailey, assuming she'd be their Claudia the whole way through.
A real child could have grown to be a head taller than she started out in the 2-3 years of filming. It works for a movie but it would look hella weird in a tv show with a focus on an eternal child.

Do think they should have found a teen that looks younger, though.

A white 18th century man with dead wife (film) or dead brother and blind father (book) is now black gay man with complicated family in 20th century because Racism, blood is life is now fucking, and perpetual child Claudia is now an adult. But totally the same show /s Lestat could've met a black gay male who wasn't supposed to be Louis if the writers wanted their own character to project onto.

Well, I'm loving the show, and for #3 especially, but I was always indifferent to the books and I could see how someone who really loved them would be disappointed.

A lot of movies nowadays seem like they’re made to not get laughed at. Like they’re afraid of audiences who find things melodramatic or unrealistic. And I think Robin Hood needs melodrama.
