AYRT - thanks, I feel fine this morning. Idk, the one time I mentioned having intermittent stabby chest and shoulder pain, my doctor said I should switch purses, and, of course, lose weight *eyeroll*.

I'm on track to exceed 3,000 miles of walking this year, I've been vegetarian for 30+ years, and I've never drank, smoked, or taken recreational drugs, but I am fat and like to eat, so yeah. I don't know if I'll be taken seriously and medical stuff stresses me the fuck out. I kind of wish I could get prescribed Ozempic or similar drugs just so I could lose enough weight that doctors wouldn't automatically write me off as just fat. The last time I was underweight, I was an extremely premie baby and they threw a party every time I gained an ounce, lol.

I may make an appointment to get the thyroid stuff checked; if it's worse than 6 months ago I'll take the doc up on meds, and I'll mention collapsing. When I started the BP meds 6 months ago, I did have a week or so of feeling dizzy, shitty, and tired, but those are normal side effects. And now I crave salt like an ungulate, heh.

I feel bad for the potted shrub I landed in, I broke a bunch of branches on my way down. I'm lucky I didn't knock myself out.

My sister was just complaining to me about how LinkedIn has turned into Facebook but "professional". It's literally just a social media app now, not so much a place to look up job postings or to look up a worker's resume.

It's not bait. I only added Bollywood to make it seem LESS racist, I don't see much of that come up. But I do see so much K-Pop and K-Drama stuff, and I think Chinese romance stuff too? Blocking fic by language doesn't help either, because so many of the fic written for those fandoms are in English anyway.

I have nothing against those cultures, or their inhabitants, but their cultures are so vastly different to mine that I can't connect with the media. I've tried. Just like I can't connect with hockey RPF because I have no knowledge of the sport, but it's very easy to just block Hockey RPF. There's no way to block 'animation from Japan' or 'music from Korea', and I wish there was.

Probably OT but there was a period where GoodReads tried to link either my Facebook account or Amazon account to my GoodReads account, and I absolutely did NOT want to do that so I abandoned the account.

I just didn't want it to seem like I was specifically anti Korea because it's mostly K-Pop and K-Dramas that are the problem, so I threw in Anime and Bollywood too (although Anime is also problematic with some tags)

I do search by fandoms/pairings, but generally they're older fandoms with not much posted.

I also search by tags. I've recently been going through the 'Christmas' tag, but so much of the fic in the last 5 years or so is Asian based, I was finding maybe 1 fic a page that I even knew the fandom of.

For clarities sake, I have zero issues with Asian characters or people in any media at all. I wouldn't even care if the entire cast was Asian. I'm just not interested in specifically K-POP sang in Korean by Korean people, or C-Dramas based in China starring Chinese actors.

I'm familiar with hundreds of fandoms. I don't want to search through each one to find a few tags I'm in the mood for.

This is a really weird thing you should unpack on your own time. You can watch whatever media you want, but not being able to "connect" with media set in different countries feels weirdly and passively xenophobic, even if you don't actively hate these cultures.

Yeah I can see the sheer repetition of these criticisms annoying those who enjoy the franchise despite them, but unfortunately, it doesn't make them any less accurate.

As someone who is poly themselves, this is actually the exact sort of ship I could see working out in the long term. IME problems in poly relationships most often arise in situations where you have an established couple adding a third person. Three people who all vibe mutually and agree they all want to be together? That usually works out just fine.

As someone who has only ever seen the first movie when it first came out, I do find it amusing to see the beef that the Avatar the Last Airbender fandom has with these movies, especially when it was predicted ages ago that the last movie title would be fire themed out of pettiness.
