Back in the 2000s-early 2010s, I worked a couple call center jobs and man, the weird things people would vent about over the phone. Often nothing related to what they were calling about.

Yup!!!

For the most part, I agree with the advice, but I also agree with OP that it doesn't start nor end with taking note of how someone treats service staff.

My parents are relentlessly nice and courteous to strangers, their coworkers and bosses, service workers, and their extended family, but they were extremely mean and dismissive with their own kids.

Similarly, I've seen advice on taking note how a person treats kids and/or animals. Much like the advice on service workers, I can agree that yes, if someone is not kind to kids or animals, they likely aren't a nice person overall. But at the same time, I've had plenty of people in my life who are very kind and loving towards kids/animals (especially the types who like animals more than humans) who are colossal assholes to humans at large.

Agreed. A couple years ago I logged onto Twitter after months away and saw some terrible tweets, and was like "my time here is done." Deleted my (at the time) 14yo account.

The Rabbits around the world thank you for understanding. We shall only take our feathered friends once they've lost their down, and have quacked their agreement! Lovely citizen, I am proud.

No, but I partake in voluntary short online lectures about it to learn and be a shit on the chat about copyright, environmental and ethical issues. Know your enemy.

I've had this happen a lot with a friend but it was even weirder- not just reworded ideas repeated back and made seem like hers but also experiences I had and talked about, things that happened TO ME. And then she would tell those stories some time later as if they happened to her. It was so strange.

Also the people at market booths of any kind, especially in crowded spaces like conventions. And you want to look at the products but people park their asses right in front of the booths to fucking CHAT TO EACH OTHER WHILE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE STUFF.

Eh, art is hard. Don't let those modern artists fool you, it takes a lot of work to be good at it. I'm sure some of them know they aren't the best, but share as a means to spread their love and contribute. You're, by all means, taking the best approach by just letting them do their own thing, tbh. There's no reason to lie to them if you genuinely don't see anything worth complementing, but just as a hazard, you also shouldn't assume anyone is lying if they do complement the art or even just certain aspects of it.
Not accusing you of anything, of course, I'm just someone who is only good at one specific thing, and is very jealous of very simple or even actively terrible art that can capture something or make a form I still struggle with.

Yes, it's in all our personal goals for 2026. We are told to use Copilot. We have no integrated AI agents yet.

I remembered this because it is so unmemorable. It has a southern coastline, and not many countries have one of those. And nearly all the ones that do have memorable shapes, especially a near neighbour which looks like a turkey drumstick with a bit out of it, so this had to be the one which looked unmemorable, which made it more memorable. My logic is not normal, I know.

Not done today, because they went and posted some AI Art instead of an actual photograph and I refused to do it on principle! That was some bullshit.

I don't do office stuff, I actually work for a living, so unless Elon's robot has really developed a lot in the last six months I don't it impacted my job any time soon.

The problem with the Cadfael costuming is that with HiDef TV, you can very much see they just sprayed knitted wool sweaters with silver paint instead of using regular chainmail. Also, couple of zippers and at least one pair of denim jeans can be seen. Stuff you'd get away with on regular tv back in the day, but pretty obvious now.

We do need more TV paced like that, and episodic like that, though. I agree with you there.

Well at least Case now has Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's IP address, I suppose.

US citizens - a scenario

Another nation offers you citizenship on the condition that you move there permanently and never return to the US. Which nation do you choose, and why?

NZ seems nice.

All of those have aged horrifically badly. Especially the first one. Take off your fangoggles.
